2015 Yamaha R1
Is launched at the Milan show tomorrow.
Don't know about anyone else but I can't wait. I'm dreaming of a R6 sized chassis housing a 200bhp counter rotating 1000CC IL4 engine, state of the art electronics, with TC Race ABS, QS, Launch Control, Pit Lane Limiter etc...... Ohlins Mechatronic active suspension, Brembo M50 Monoblocks, Forged Wheels, Carbon Bodywork

That's a pretty hardcore dream IMO Blade.Blade wrote:Is launched at the Milan show tomorrow.

Re: 2015 Yamaha R1
Yeah I know but I hope its a reality too, as not an impossible wish list and bar the carbon bodywork its comparable to the 2015 BMW S1000RR spec.
The game has moved on and the big Japanese factory's need to move with the times. Offering an optional Quickershifter on a VFR800 is not technical progress IMO which is what the likes of Honda and Yamaha claim they are in Motogp for.
I believe there will be 2 levels of specification so hopefully my dream MIGHT be a reality in FULL FAT HARDCORE Specification

Re: 2015 Yamaha R1
You might get most of that........bar the R6 size chassis. Everyone one of those is available on bikes on sale now or very soon.

Re: 2015 Yamaha R1
Spys shots showed the bike being tested using R6 bodywork as a disguise so might be possible

Re: 2015 Yamaha R1
I know its over simplified but the R1 has a 74mm bore compared to 65.5mm on the R6 so an 8.5mm difference which times four is 34 mm wider

Re: 2015 Yamaha R1
Not what I was hoping for tbh, but maybe better in the flesh or from a different angle.

Is it me or does it look a bit 'boring'

Re: 2015 Yamaha R1
Boring but as Perkles says the exhaust doesn't help it.
Stick a full race system on and things should improve

Re: 2015 Yamaha R1
Looks like they have tried to make a roadbike that looks like an M1...and failed miserably.
Better to wait and see what Yamaha themselves reveal though.

Re: 2015 Yamaha R1
I don't like it, it looks half finished, even blanking out that exhaust doesn't improve it. That's the first R1 that doesn't look like it's doing 100mph standing still, can't see the dealers being happy bunnies.

Re: 2015 Yamaha R1
Not sure what's going on but I can't get the launch event up using the link they have posted.
Just keeps repeating the trailer that's been out for weeks,

Not much to report yet. I guess the R1 will be the last bike to be unveiled.
