I went down to see it and remove most of my parts/accessories from it, I got some strange feelings working on it again and was told "Just do the bolts finger tight so nothing falls off in transport" I did not do that, I tightened them as if the bike was still mine and I would ride it again... I can't do half-arsed even under instruction...

My haul is
Radiator guards
Headlight guard
Tank lock ring
Yoshi exhaust (Completely unmarked!)
and the Sat-nav adapter.



Then I called in to my local friendly BMW dealer for a coffee and a chat, and ordered a new GSA Rallye.. I will never be rich but saying that with the deposit I have managed to rake together this one is about £50 a month less on pcp and will never be in negative equity, which covers the increased insurance premium and then some over the first year.

And I have a nice box of bits which will fit it nicely.

Good news. Is it the new 1300 or a late 1250 you have ordered?

It's the outgoing 1250, I am tempted by the 1300 and it is much lighter but I think I will give it a couple of years to work the kinks out before I get one... Also after configuring one the way I would like it the price came out over £3K more than I'm paying for this 1250 Adventure which comes with free Aluminium panniers and inner bags, which I will need next year.

It will look almost identical to this one.

I'm lucky that my dealership in Rotherham is right next door to Motografix HQ so it's getting a tank pad fitted right out of the crate. One of the bits I got thrown in for free For some reason the normal GS's came with a rubber tank pad from the factory but the Adventure never did.

Yep, the spokes go to the edge of the rim so no tubes required.

Today I got a letter containing the cheque, after all the Emails back and forth and a phone call to confirm my bank details for a direct transfer... They sent a Cheque so I posted the service book and other bit's they asked for and that's that settled.

The cheque should just about cover the insurance on the new one when it arrives so I think I have done okay.

Now to get my ass into town during normal person working hours to get the cheque paid in, Lloyds have closed my local branch, which was the only branch of any bank in my local area.


Thinking about the new one, I chose a spec which didn't exist in the UK stock so it's being built this week and I will get an update when they know more.

That cheque has cleared and already been used to pay off a credit card which I used to pay the deposit on the new bike so thanks for the tip Kwacky.

And the final piece of the settlement, the £500 excess rebait has been approved so I should see that in the next 10-14 days, the Email from them for my details got filtered into the junk folder so I'm glad I found that one... Just need the new bike now, no update yet on that.

Went and sat on the new GS1300 today at the local dealer. Its still a heavy brute to lift off the sidestand, makes my V4 Multi seem like a lightweight.

Yeah they're a chunky bike alright and the Adventure even more so with 30 litres of fuel, but I have ridden one and handled it just fine. The one I have ordered is the older 1250.

The 1300 is a bit lighter and easier to lift off the stand but I remember the chocolate camshafts and electrical oddity's on the early 1250's... My next bike may be a 1300GS but I will let them work the bugs out of it first, it is an all new bike.

Today I got a text from the dealer, the bike is built and with the importer waiting to be transported to the UK distribution centre, there it will be inspected and given a full tank of petrol, shipped to the dealer for a number plate... Shouldn't be long now.

Okay, an update happened.

The bike cleared UK Customs at 01:00 this morning so is now at the UK Distribution centre, it might make the Friday delivery to the dealer but will probably be next week so I paid the balance of the deposit which should make the paperwork smooth once it get's here.
