It's terrible. Worse yet, the guy responsible is a firearms instructor in the Army Reserve...a skilled operator, I suppose you could say. What a nightmare situation.

I'm anti guns, but even if they had tightened the laws there's no way he would have been refused a licence.

But when he spent time in a mental health facility and threatened to do exactly what he has done, there was ample chance for that to be reported and the risk followed up on.

Maine only has yellow flag rules and it looks like they've not been used.

I still can't understand why assault weapons are for sale.

I can't understand why they exist at all in any developed country, outside of a military environment.

Sorry, shouldn't make light of it, but it happens so often now we're becoming desensitized to it.

Well, I guess they found the suspect, dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.
