A little bit of stress does us no harm and helps us to function.

A lot of continuous stress though is bad for us. And that’s when we need to let off steam to relieve some of the pressure.

Contracting has been doing my head in for the last few years. Apart from HSBC, and that had it's challenges, good contracts are getting harder to find.

So after 13 years I've decided to hang up the contracting gloves and head back to a permie job. Interviews have been done and I'm just waiting for background checks, but hopefully should be ready to start on the 3rd.

Had absolutely no work to do for at least 2 weeks now. Only 20 work hours remaining, not that I'm counting or anything.

I've registered a request to trial working a 4 day week. Still 39 hours, but 3x 10 and 1x 9 hour shift.

I worked 47 hours 2 weeks back to accrue hours to take a day off and besides the 5th day, I actually didn't mind it. The prospect of a 3 day weekend is very appealing. More time for myself, and more time with my family.

I think it's a great idea. We do it here. You basically need to hit your weekly target in 4 days.

It's no good for me as I rarely have enough work to hit target.

What's a target? We don't even have annual targets, and if we did, we'd all fail because priorities change faster than I can open the project plan.

I've not worked on my own projects for a couple of months now as my colleagues have been pulled in to bail out Production and so I'm progressing their projects in their absence.

My working day is 8 hours, less 1 hour for lunch. Out of those 7 hours I'm supposed to record 6.8 hours of billable time. So I've got 12 minutes a day to do non-chargeable stuff.
