Re: What are you doing today ??
I'm planning on heading out in an hour Monty.
Rough plan is A57, into Hathersage and then upto Owler Bar. Drop into Baslow and refuel at BP in Calver as decent parking and food and drink available for a pit stop. Then ride home.
If you do head out and see a white S3 on your ride, wave and if its me I'll pull over for a social distanced natter. Not being anti social, in not suggesting a fixed meet up, but if its rammed with idiots who can't drive, I'll probably just turn round and go home and get p1ssed in the garden instead
Hope your well buddy and have to plan a proper meet up when lockdown restrictions allow.

I like it when the trainers crowd catch their laces on the pegs.
You have to ask yourself how many innocent Gixxers have been lost that way.

I spent the weekend making progress with DIY and then yesterday I cleaned up my leathers, gloves and boots, plus compounded, polished and sealed my bike. Leaving that to dwell overnight before I apply wax this evening.

Today marks 2 months since my start date and I've just been notified that I passed probation. Time for a coffee to celebrate

Re: What are you doing today ??
Just clocked a week on nights, 2 to go. Getting absolutely smashed as we are doing a 4 yearly maintenance shutdown. I’m assigned to PSV replacements (Pressure Safety Valves- relieve over pressurisations of process equipment to the flare) which are all at the highest point of the process, so it’s just up and down stairs all night. I’d done 14 runs up a 102 stair trip by 2am last night and then forgot to keep tally. But easily doing 1500 stairs a night.
Maybe being locked in a hotel wasn’t so bad after all

Congrats on your new job! haha
I've been getting emails from your place again recently. They're on a drive for new staff mostly inland in the USA.

Re: What are you doing today ??
More chance of staying employed when this field dries up. Santos are an Australian company where Conocophillips is American. Santos is keen to drill more out here to get more life out of the field which is also a good thing, but they also have other ventures around Australia, including a development onshore 5 hours from me if it gets Govt. consent. So my long term prospects just got better I think.Kwacky wrote:Is that going to make any difference to your job?
Conditions stay the same, except lose the company share plan (although santos have one as well) but the bonus of that is shares I normal would have to wait 3 years to vest have all dropped today.. quite a tidy sum, so a thruxton is definitely on the cards

That looks cool but uncomfortable to me.
Kiwi, how about a hypermotard? If you've got a bunch of twisties near you that would be ideal. Comfortable position and great flickability. It isn't a bike you need to ride fast.
