Just this week a client had his company renewal for himself and his wife and the quote was double last year because he had a minor knee op a few months ago. Yes it jumps quite noticeably with age.
Private healthcare in the UK once past 60 is very expensive from my findings.
If you want repeat treatment for chronic conditions, you will definitely pay heavily for it. My client is not short of money and nor is his company but he baulked at the renewal cost for what is a relatively minor condition. When he queried the renewal cost, he was actually told they have to recover the costs incurred on his behalf this year. With hindsight he was probably better off paying for the op himself instead. They are under no obligation to cover past ailments.

Its not that bad as healthcare is not as expensive as it could be. The top up insurance is not a great deal in scheme of things. Because of the way it is run (efficiently) and you need a health card to get healthcare there are no health tourists either. Everything is done electronically (including records) and all costs are declared and shown.
No - i get nothing for paying into UK healthcare for years sadly.
French healthcare is run as a business not an enormous endless pot of money. Mainly state owned though. The NHS could learn a lot.

Good to hear you have good cover in France and agree the NHS needs to be run much more efficiently as well as better funded.
I was talking to someone at the football on Saturday. He couldn't vote for Corbyn because "he'll open the floodgates and that lot will vote for him, so we'll never get rid of him". His daughter gave him a dressing down for about 10 minutes into the second half. He wasn't aware that the EU can and do control immigration. But that doesn't matter, because we're leaving anyway.
This is the problem. We can achieve EVERYTHING we wanted to achieve from within the EU but those in charge with hidden agendas keep that well hidden from most.
The biggest annoyance for me was the lack of effort people went to to educate themselves. Everyone says they want what's best for the country but they put zero effort into it.
For example, my own aunty voted Tory because she couldn't have Corbyn in. This is her reasoning:

10 seconds to Google that Corbyn's Wife is Mexican instantly disproving the remainder of her argument. 10 seconds is all it took.
Too many people believe the bullshit they are fed without questioning any of it.
There was a brilliant post doing the rounds on FB over the weekend, questioning those who voted Brexit and those who actually promoted how wonderful it will be and Britain will be a land of milk and honey.
