Julian Assange
He's fecked now, isn't he?
The UK will bundle him up and send him off to the USA, where he'll never be seen again.
He didn't look too good in the photos yesterday.

Re: Julian Assange
Did you read about how he'd been living inside that embassy?? It doesn't paint a pretty picture....or if it did, it would be a picture drawn in sh!t on the walls of his room inside the embassy, which is apparently what he'd been doing.

The Aussie PM basically said ‘bad luck, he broke the law, we aren’t stepping to save him’

Re: Julian Assange
As it stands we have only heard one side of the story . It seems a bit coincidental that the US have just arranged a 30 Billion Dollar bond issue for Ecuador , like he was part of the cost of doing the deal .

Whatever you think of him, personally I think he's a bit of a dick, but free speech for journalism died yesterday.

Re: Julian Assange
I wouldn't put that out of the realm of possibility, but I also wouldn't think that issuing those bonds hinged around Assange....more like "We're doing you guys a big favour....how's about throwing something our way in return??"

Re: Julian Assange
Once individuals can stop calling out Governments on bad decisions/practises then it’s a very slippery slope to us all being conditioned robots of the State.
I don’t really know too much about what he did but I fail to see why anyone should be arrested for gathering information on military decisions. Do we not have a right to know what a Government does in our names?

Re: Julian Assange
He did hack a government system , the argument is that by releasing all the classified documents that he did he put security service operatives and operations at risk .duke63 wrote:Once individuals can stop calling out Governments on bad decisions/practises then it’s a very slippery slope to us all being conditioned robots of the State.

I don't know what he got up to in the embassy but 7 years cooped up like that can't be good for your state of mind .

Re: Julian Assange
He didn't do the hacking, just the leaking. Plus many news outlets in the UK and around the world published the documents or at least extracts from them.
It's a very slippery slope and I'd like to see the UK stand up to the US on this.

Re: Julian Assange
So he didn't load the pistol, he just fired it??
Yep...I could see why that might be a problem.

Re: Julian Assange
So we should be extraditing the UK news outlets that leaked it on?

Re: Julian Assange
His bail, that he skipped, was set in relation to an allegation of rape in Sweden.
Regardless of leaks, he’s been rightly taken in to custody for skipping that bail, and will hopefully face charges in Sweden first.
He sounds like a complete arsehole in my opinion, and deserves what’s coming to him.

Re: Julian Assange
While he is a complete twat and narcissist, I have little faith that those rape charges aren’t a fabrication. Could be completely wrong but seems very convenient that the US were chasing him down and then that happened.TriumphFan wrote:His bail, that he skipped, was set in relation to an allegation of rape in Sweden.

Re: Julian Assange
Too much smoke for there to be no fire. No-one who is innocent would hide for that length of time...seven years (???) without wanting to clear their name. Doesn't make sense to do that.
He wants government transparency, how's about being a little transparent yourself, Jules???

Re: Julian Assange
No other option for anything else but a fair trial. Too high-profile for it to be otherwise.
