A new rear Z8 is £120 fitted.
The Avon 3d XM is £168 a pair fitted.
Think i'm going for the Z8 as i suspect there is another few thousand miles in the front tyre.

Re: New tyres for the Multistrada
That's a good price on the Avons.
I think I got about 3,000 more miles from my front Z8

I got about 8,000 miles on the 650. No surprise given the power delivery differences between our bikes.

Re: New tyres for the Multistrada
Tyres are getting expensive and if only 2000 miles and £250+ its getting a little salty

Re: New tyres for the Multistrada
Problem is we all want the best tyres, not the ones with the best life, or even the best life/grip combo and right at the bottom of it all is that we don’t want to get caught out if a cheaper tyre lets go on us, don’t forget that Grip=Confidence in most riders heads.
The tyre companies will charge whatever the market will tolerate, hence the price increase. Still bloody outrageous what they’re charging though.

Tyre costs have been creeping up over last few years and hopefully it's reached a peak for a while.

Re: New tyres for the Multistrada
Tyre technology is also moving on year by year , multi compounds are pretty common and I would have thought more expensive to make than a single compound tyre and there are increasing amounts of materials other than rubber being used all of which must add to the cost and then you have the development costs which will always be a large factor because we won't be satisfied until there is a tyre that lets us ride on the ceiling at 85 degrees of lean in the wet .

Re: New tyres for the Multistrada
The Z8s are a compromise for me. They're a decent all rounder, cheap and I get good mileage from them. There are better and newer tyres out there and tyres with better grip in the dry and wet, but I'm happy with them.
