Your relationship with the hardware store has just begun! when you own your house there is always something that you need/want to do to it. But as you've already found, it comes with great satisfaction

gfCav works in a school so all the holiday-time childcare is taken care of (Y).. I'm sure my wage would cover 12 weeks of holiday so long as she doesn't have any brilliant ideas followed by impulse buys !!

Thank you mate! It took about 1 week to decorate the lounge then a further week to create and mount the TV 'floating' wall. Very happy with the results though

Re: One step closer
Fortunately I have design tools at my disposal at work so I created a 1:1 model of my lounge to create a well proportioned wall - I even created a model for the TV we plan on buying #Nerd

Re: One step closer
I like the way it's "uncluttered"....kind of a Scandinavian look going on there.....same with the flooring.
There's not a maze of electrical cords underneath it either.....most people end up with a spaghetti factory beneath their "media center".

Re: One step closer
Haha.. I love catching up on a few comments - this morning was no disappointment !!
What's wrong with the sofa, ROSSGO!!!!
The main reasons for the floating wall were to hide as many cables as possible and to keep the floor space as large as possible.
Obviously the gf will be furnishing every nook and cranny in £0000's worth of useless decoration over the upcoming months

Re: One step closer
That's OK....it's your guys' house and you're the one's who have to live in it...no-one else.
I've worked in hundreds of "show houses"...that are basically are just a take on the model home, and while they might look great, they're not always very practical on a day-to-day basis. You want function over form.
Anyway....you've got the house, your template, that's the main thing....you'll both change stuff as you go along.
