The Z8s should do you fine, they really suit the Versys and the Z1000SX. Duke has them on his Multi and seems to like them.

yeah I was trying to decide between them or the 7rr, bearing in mind for the last 4 years or so Ive basically just used Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsas so I'm used a sportier tyre

Check the prices out. The M7rr is sportier but you'll get better tyre life from the Z8. Both are good in the wet. The Z8 has a decent profile on them so they do turn in pretty quick. More so that the Roadtec 01 which I found slow on the turn in.

Compound wise I don't think so.. tread wise yes. More tread > more leading edges > more friction > more heat.

It all depends on tyre pressures too. I used to pump my tyres up in winter but thinking about it, it would make sense to decrease pressure to allow more contact patch thus more grip.

What's everyone elses view on that?

I leave the pressures as they are.

The Z8s heat up pretty quick, much quicker than the Roadtec01s.

On the road in winter use the manufacturers recommended pressure. If you run with a low pressure then the grooves will close up this preventing them from doing their job of getting rid of water between the tyre and the road.

Every bike I've ever owned has recommended 36/42 in the manual.

Ducati recommend 33/31 on the Pani.

What they recommend on the multi Duke ?

Id love to but wouldn't be until I get a payrise, probably would do it the other way round, sell the MT and buy a commuter outright for about 5k and then get something shiny and exotic and expensive as a toy but that is a good deal and I wouldn't hesitate knowing how good yours has been as a commuter

Well I reckon you've got about 18 months to save up if you want to buy a well looked after, all the mod cons, dealer serviced 17 plate Versys 650 ;)

I've decided that my day to day bike will be changed every 2 years. Given the low price of the Versys 650 that gives me plenty of time to save the cash needed to swap the existing bike for a new one.

It's 35 miles to work.

I average about 12 to 13 thousand miles a year on the main bike. I think the Street has got around 2,500 miles on it. The Versys has just over 7,000. I got the STR in the middle of March and the Versys at the start of May, so that's close to 10,000 miles done in 7 months (rock)
