Re: Panigale.
I have only test ridden the 1299 albeit a short ride as Riders Ducati limit you to about an hour so can't comment on the 959. By all accounts the 1299 is a lot better than its predesessor the 1199.
Why are thinking of buying one ?

Re: Panigale.
Depends what you are going to use it for. A 1299 would be wasted unless you intended doing some trackdays on it, IMHO.

Re: Panigale.
1299.. not having ridden either.
Reason being, my trackday at Silverstone last year was the first time I saw a 959 go hammer and tong yet my zx6r was keeping up with it in a straight line... I'm not paying all that money for something a £4k bike can do

Re: Panigale.
Yeah...I hear you Cav.....but a Duc is more than the sum of it's parts....something that most other bikes can only aspire to.

Re: Panigale.
One of the reasons I sold my 899. Yes it handled great and was plenty fast enough. However for a 10500. My 4500 gixer was more exciting
"80mph" sorry officer I possibly could not have done that I'm no Valentino Rossi.

Re: Panigale.
Dukes may cost more but they hold there value more so although the cost of purchase maybe higher the cost of ownership could be less.
Re: Panigale.
Not when you look at the service costs for something that won't be used that much or go very far in most cases.

Well....that's just bikes in general...at least for me. They're a toy....not something I ever want to use on a daily basis.

Re: Panigale.
If I go for a rideout it won't be less than 200 miles. If I'm buying an expensive bike for weekends I will be out almost every weekend - sometimes twice in a weekend. Say 25 rides a year, that's 5000miles/year on the bike. I can't own it for more than 18 months before losing most of its value and I just don't see the point in that

Re: Panigale.
To me, a Ducati is a two-wheeled Ferrari, it's as simple as that.
Except the Monster, which is a two- wheeled tractor.
And maybe the Diavel, an Italian Harley.

Re: Panigale.
Yeah....you worry about the resale then you're worried about NOT owning something.
No-one worries about buying a curry, and they know it's gonna turn to sh!t in no time at all....

Re: Panigale.
You say bollocks to resale but I can't afford to lose that money.. it's why I bought the bike I did. It was a bargain at £4500 and I'd still get £3500 for it considering mileage.. losing £1000 for adding 20,000 miles to a bike is a bloody good deal if you ask me!!
