You wouldn't need to store hydrogen if you could strip the hydrogen molecules from water on the fly a technology that is very possible .
The byproduct of this is oxygen which could be injected along with the hydrogen for a very efficient burn

Re: 2040 and all that
Rural bus services aren't profitable because they have to run a set route at set times. They have to pay a driver. They have to use a larger vehicle than needed just in case of increased demand.
If people are told they have to pre-book a bus service then it becomes more viable.
But there's nothing to stop you from owning your own vehicle if you don't want to rely on public transport or if you don't want to hire a vehicle for your journeys.
The changes won't happen overnight. People will have time to adjust and find different jobs. You know yourself how employment has changed in recent history.
Professional drivers can pick the fruit we currently rely on migrant workers for.

Re: 2040 and all that
are these automated vehicles going to have a loo onboard or will they stop for 5 mins while you piss up a tree ? would you be able to get one to park up somewhere so you could watch a beautiful sunset ,or 2 dogs shagging ? Could it do what I had to do on the A5 the other week and stop in the centre of the road with the hazards on because 2 dogs were running about all over the carriageway ?
I have many other questions concerning autonomous vehicles but overall I am not truly concerned by the thought of it, what does seriously concern me is the current model of going electric conservative estimates say we will need another 9 -12 power stations then we have the Lithium question current estimates say we will run out by 2033 hence the investigation into extracting the 0.00whatever percent is in seawater , going electric just doesn't add up . They are also investigating using Magnesium to make batteries when Magnesium reacts it gives off Oxygen which is why it burns so bright I wouldn't like a magnesium battery shorting out .

No of course not, neoliberalism has to die before that happens. It will happen, but maybe not in our lifetimes.Jack wrote:Monty wrote:The automated cars will pay TAX and everyone will get a universal basic wage.

The problem with that is the massive amount of energy you need to strip hydrogen from waterJack wrote:You wouldn't need to store hydrogen if you could strip the hydrogen molecules from water on the fly a technology that is very possible .

When someone mentions watching "two dogs shagging" twice in the same paragraph, you just know there's some issues...../

I only mentioned shagging dogs once the other dogs were loose on a busy part of the A5D41 wrote:When someone mentions watching "two dogs shagging" twice in the same paragraph, you just know there's some issues...../

Re: 2040 and all that
If you do it by electrolysis that is true but if you use a reagent like boron or aluminium which produces Hydrogen, Oxygen and a metal oxide residue it is much more efficient .Monty wrote:
