Re: Work
Everyone makes mistakes, that’s how we learn a lot of the time. You can get a level of leeway with that to a point.
But being deceitful is a terrible trait, and I’d have zero tolerance to it. In the industries I’ve worked in, dishonesty in your job kills people.

Re: Work
So this news came out yesterday
https://amp.abc.net.au/article/103852218
I got a call later in the day.
10 positions affected offshore, out of around 500 staff on roster.
I got a golden ticket. My offshore days are done. Seems my OIM kept his word and secured me a handshake.
Still a little in shock.

Re: Work
Thanks guys
Yeah totally great news.
I’m under “redeployment opportunities consideration” till the end of the month/pay period (which was the rest of my normal break anyway) but it’s just a protocol. It’s already known I won’t redeploy anywhere due, and there are no Santos jobs for me here. So redundancy will be effective from 31 May. But also got paid 5 weeks in lieu of notice.
Payout figure was 15% more than I had expected too. Really nice to have that behind me and be able to take a breather and give the business idea a go with something in back up.

Re: Work
The pain of the last two years since the Sydney Water debacle. I only decided to stay on because of the impending redundancy. But it was like the proverbial carrot on a stick and constantly moving!!! But regardless, an investment that paid off.

Re: Work
He's handed his notice in. He's decided to go for a scorched earth resignation letter, slagging off anyone and everyone, me included. He's leaving because we're not giving him enough work and we're doing the work ourselves instead of getting him to do it.Kwacky wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 09:22 Interesting times at work.
We hired a new assistant back in February. He was slow to get started, but he's a bright lad so we gave him as much of our time as needed. Sadly he kept making very silly mistakes.
I asked him to put some emails in date order. We use TEAMS chat at work. He told me he had, I asked him to double check. He told me that I had misread the emails as one was replying to an older email. I pointed out that page 4 was an email dated 4th March, sandwiched between two emails dated 26th Feb. "I'll give you that one" was his reply.
His attitude was brought up at his last probation meeting, I used that example.
He's also been caught deleting mis-sent emails from our files to try and cover up his mistakes.
He's just responded to his probation review, basically said I was wrong about what he had said. He's deleted the TEAMS chat. I've got HR involved.
Good riddance.

Re: Work
Kudos to my manager.. he's been great recently in supporting me. I felt comfortable enough to approach him and let him know that I'll be calling the doctor about not coping and requesting reduced working hours. I said I'll liaise with him when I've seen the doctor to make the least impact possible.
He then opened up about some of his private struggles too. I feel we may have turned a corner.

Doc signed me off for 3 weeks. Referred to a CBT group. BUPA EAP won't see me because I've got too much to deal with.

Re: Work
Correct. "We don't want to open all your cans of worms and to leave you with a mess at the end of your 6th session".... that is all they said. They aren't allowed to offer more than 6 sessions apparently but they did kindly remind me that I can still use the service any time I need it - because that's logical.

Re: Work
To be honest, I’d avoid any therapist with that attitude. Like any profession you have to find one that works well for you. Unfortunately the hit and miss is the last thing you need when you are looking for help. Byron went through 4 before his long standing current one. I’ve seen 3 and only one was any chop.Cav wrote: ↑31 May 2024, 19:23 Correct.
