Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia
I learned about a new disease today. CMML.
Sadly it's because my mum has got it.

Re: Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia
Not really. They monitor it until it reaches the next stage then offer chemo and blood transfusions.

Re: Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia
Sorry to hear this mate.
My dad was diagnosed about 5 or so years ago with a form on leukemia. They gave him the same treatment plan, and so far it's been life as normal. Hopefully it will be the same for your mum.

Re: Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia
That is shit news Kwacky. It sounds as if it may possibly be treatable, but it’ll still loom large in your Mum’s life and inevitably for you and Mrs Kwacky. Fingers crossed for you all and hope it all works out for your Mum.
All the best, D,E and J.

Crap news mate..
The exes dad when through Lukemia when we were still together as well. I seriously thought he was done, but he pulled through and has been clear for 5 yrs.
So keep hope mate, even on the bad days.

Re: Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia
Thanks everyone. It's a bit of a shock. But it's very early so fingers crossed they can slow it or stop it.

Re: Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia
It looks like the deterioration has started in earnest. She's not been well recently. She's had some issues with her vision and feeling shaky.
At the end of last week she went in for some tests. She became unwell this weekend. She went back for more tests and was told to look at for certain warning signs, including bruises. The bruises appeared yesterday so my wife took her in to hospital which is where she is now. Some of her blood counts dont' look very promising so they're finalising some tests and coming up with a plan.
My mum's fear is that they're going to start chemo. That's essentially the start of the countdown.
