Re: What are you doing today ??
Replaced the brakes on the car and promptly hit eBay for some new parts.
One of the rear calliper carriers has a smooth bore for one of the sliders which should be a thread so a Helecoil kit is on order and both of the retaining springs were seized so replacements have been ordered even though I did manage to recover the existing ones and bend them back in to shape... This car has a full main dealer service history.
Soo many things have been done in ways which would have got my ass kicked as a Honda Apprentice. I was the kind of mechanic who prioritized accuracy and attention to detail over speed.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Today was a very knackering day... Left the gaff early doors to get to supermarket, pick up a few essentials, They open at 7... result. Heads down to Dodds Wood, climb to the summit, takes some awesome shots, jobs a goodun...
Did shop, got taken short, shot back to gaff..... then headed to Dodds, road closed sign, so we off around all the back roads, just about a car width wide, back onto the road, only to come up to people turning around!!! What the Actual..... So had a word with the fella, said I only want to go there... pointed 100m up the road. He let me through. result, well so I thought lol. Got to the summit, it was think fog, and drizzle, went off doing all the routes anyway, totally knackered by now, the climb was just over 1600 feet, my legs were burning, I also had a lots of camera gear with me which did not help.
Anyway, hours later back down, now cafe open.... Noooooooooo... Nobody could get in, the road was closed and they were re tarmac-ing the surface, I could not get out the car park, so I went off for round two lol....
To say I am very very tired is an understatement, might be a rest day tomorrow. I eventually got away after speaking to one of the guys, just had to stay on one side the other was still wet LMAO.....And the cart park cost me and all.....
A fun Day.... mostly playing in waterfalls

Hospital visit over in Sheffield today just for a check up at the Endocrine unit, naturally they wanted some blood from this Stone while I was in the building.
Then a shopping trip on my way home and a tank of liquid gold for the car, cheapest I could find on my travels was £1.59.9 a litre of standard diesel (or £6.43 for a US gallon, $7.87 for D41)

I've got a few days traveling with a mate in his camper van. We did Catbells in the Lakes. We're currently parked up eating pizza and drinking beer

That's a bit of a journey....how long a drive is that for you???
I just walked out front to look for the cat &
found him hiding because there's two HUGE raccoons in the front yard. Now I'm hiding with the cat.

I've been to Ullapool and Loch Ness.
Currently parked up off road, listening to the rutting deer.

I've been out cycling. I'm knackered.
I did bump into an old friend while I was out, so that was a welcome change....but I need to lay down for a bit...cycling takes it out of me a lot more than it used to. I hate to think what it'll be like when I hit middle age.

Re: What are you doing today ??
We've been around Loch Ness and visited Ben Nevis. We did a walk along one of the Ben Nevis trails. Those of you who like your off road cycling would love it there. My mate was speaking to some YouTube bloke called Tom Cardy and his girlfriend.
We're currently on the A82 Skyfall road heading towards Dumphries. The scenery is jaw dropping.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Round 2 with the rear brakes on the car, the striped hole was just larger than the drill for the M8 helicoil but smaller than a M10 bolt... Hmmm I didn't know that M9 was a thing but apparently that's what I was dealing with.
The thread on the slider pin was not great anyway so now it's M8 and needed 2 (1 and 2/3) helicoil's to fill the hole.
All done and tight now. I wonder if the oddball size is just to sell new part's? Probably.
