Rob, I had a sit on this one in Huddersfield the other day. Couldn't find a mark on it and the guys seem pretty honest, all bikers too.

Cheers Monty, funny you linked to that as I was looking at that bike earlier on.

Huddersfield is a bit of a mission from me but seen they do delivery.

Also just seen this on their website.......Must not buy another sportsbike, Must not buy another sportsbike, Must not buy another sportsbike, (doh)

Good price, great condition, low mileage, all the bling.

One of the most iconic looking bikes of modern times.

So when you buying it Rob?

Always always ask when any 748/916/996 was last services before declaring an interest. If it's not been serviced within the last 6 months or by a renowned specialist you should budget for at least £600 on having it serviced by someone who knows what makes these things tick.

At that price I would hang it on the wall and stare at it.

That 996 should have marchesini wheels on and like duke says lots of ducats don't get ridden and they think that it was only serviced 200 miles ago it will be fine but belts should be changed every 2 years. If there's a problem with the valves expect a large bill too mate payed near 2k on his engine and that was mate rates from a Ducati dealer. There lovely bikes but they have there problems used to have a 996 and wanted another before the rsv until I put my sensible head on.

Neither the wheels or discs are original on that bike.

Good knowledge there Rocket & Duke.

I've put an offer in on the Dorsoduro on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aprilia-dorso" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... 4ae5e6ea87

Noticed on the offer history that someone put an offer in yesterday morning and the seller gave a counter offer (which according to ebay has not been accepted yet). Will see how I get on.

Not trying to put anyone off but buy a good one and its something to treasure but buy a bad one and you would want to chuck it in the canal.

There are plenty of well looked after Ducatis out there so it pays to take your time in finding one of those. Impossible to tell what that one is without seeing its history but my initial view would be to be very wary. The exhausts look like OEM ones to so would want changing to something that unleashes the beast.

Seems like you chaps were right on that 996. Just saw it on Autotrader and now they supply info in regards to whether has previously been in an accident and provided a Category following an insurance payout
