I love my speed triple, so I would say try the new one. But I'm biased.

Thruxton is meant to be good if you want a naked retro bike. Or at least just worth a demo just for kicks.

I'm sure there are other naked options come new model year if you are thinking of waiting.

I love the Thruxton but it's too slow for my tastes. I might try one though if Triumph Birmingham have a demo in.

I won't be doing anything until after I'm back from Japan, so November at the earliest. By then I'll know what models are coming out for 2017 and there are usually some pretty good deals on 2016 stock during winter if nothing new takes my eye.

There should be some exceptional deals on new bikes over the winter as the majority of current models will have to be preregistered before 1 january if they don't meet Euro 4 rules.

having had a few chats and visiting the factory, Ducati are pretty good at managing their production. They still don't really go in for mass production numbers and they don't manufacture all models throughput the year. That said if a dealer has a few bikes in stock they will be keen to offload Euro 3 stock early January i reckon. The RSV4 isn't Euro 4 compliant either, nor is the R1 or S1000RR.

These euro4 regs are starting to sound very good. Panigale, R1, RSV4.........All my fave bikes 8)

Although I properly won't buy brand new, when new prices are low the second hand nearly new models have to reduce also. Thankfully the zx10r will be quite static as the new model is already euro4 compliant.

Still a similar list, had a busy summer with visitors etc so no time. I'm going to do a few next month hopefully. Its been scorchio here for weeks and weeks - almost too hot to ride in leathers tbh.

It's the same price as a new stock bike as well.

I would probably need a second mortgage for the Insurance.

The Milan show is coming up so hopefully I'll get some ideas of what I'm after. I can take a closer look at the NEC in a couple of weeks time.
