Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Clocked up some miles today, Went out for a ride out with a new group I was introduced to, nice enough guys, all good quick riders. Felt safe in amongst them. Had a nice lunch at middle wallop, then down to Compton Abbas. forgot how good some of the roads are in the area.
A tad warm on the bike, but I am not moaning, cant believe how some people are.... few months and it will be, ITS TOO WET,COLD bla bla bla lol.....
I know I have been on the bike today for sure

Yes the V4. And I am too old for it. My brain doesn’t work quick enough for the speed it travels at. Warp speed !!!

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Today i had an IAM observed ride still aiming for that illusive First. In total it was around 105 miles. Brilliant weather for it. Again a good ride and he was happy. Couple of points to take away from the ride which i need to finesse on. Love getting back into observed rides again! Hrs said for me to book the test as there will be a waiting list anyway.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Kwacky - overtaking - the 3 stage overtake - i seem to do it prefectly on one then crap on the other! Basically i will accelerate on the moving from the 1 sec distance. He has mentioned the police way of overtakes (Catch, Match and Dispatch).
Gravel areas, i get really paranoid when i see a little bit of gravel and position the bike at awkward angles at junctions to avoid any gravel which could lead to dangerous situations as i did turn on the ither side of tge road, he has recommended me to go to a off roading day just to feel a bit slipping etc. I dont mind the bike moving but when we was in Wales a handful of years back i witnessed a guy on a blade go riund a bend and slip on gravel, it was pleasant the bike was totalled! Dont fancy that happening lol
Also filtering, my impatience may get the better of me. Today there were road works, massive lorry at the stop sign (at road works) and lots of cars and another massive lorry at the end just in front of me, i wasnt hanging about so decided to filter right up to the front, basically i rushed it, there were no landing spots for me so if the light turned green i wouldnt of seen it and would of looked stupid in front of an examiner. I was safe to an extent but not thinking enough of creeping and finding a space for 'if' the light turned green when all vehicles started to move etc
Unsure if that makes sense lol!!
The guy i had is top notch think hes a National observer or higher plus hes our main man of the whole of our IAM group (think we are the biggest in the UK - hes our main man he's proper knowledgeable!)

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Yep, all of that makes sense. Sorry if I caused you problems with your riding
Off road should be done by every biker IMO, you learn so much it's unbelievable and it gives you confidence on the road.
I do the same as you when it comes to filtering up to the front of roadworks but wouldn't do it when I'm being examined. You have to get your head around the fact you're being watched when you're riding and question how it looks to the observer. As you know, IAM is all about safety so a lack of a riding plan never goes down well.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
I may go fir that off roading however im very short so unsure if id be able to realistically fit in these type of vikes as whenever i have tried to sit on one my legs dangle and i cant even reach the ground with one foot haha! But that would be in a couple years or so as dont really have the dosh to do this yet.
Defo got to rain it in a bit with that filtering, ill have to think more about what im doing

try the off road school I went to mate, he has a few imported honda 150s which are for shorter riders, my father in law is only about 5ft 6 and he was fine on one.
