I think a lot of metal musicians will listen to at least some classical, they can be quite similar at times in terma of scales and chordings, its a good place to find inspiration and also relax compared to listening to metal all the time. Also generally i find they are 2 of the harder genres to play so think people that play one or the other or both enjoy the challengeD41 wrote:

The last bassist I worked with was the same way....she plays in the Iron Maidens, and also plays double-bass for the LA Symphony Orchestra.
Plus she's hot, so none of that other stuff really matters anyway.
