If GM get in on the act there should be an increase in charging points.

If you had the money I reckon a charge car park company (Park and Plug) would be worth setting up.

It does look OK but the range is disappointing. They will sell every one they can make however.

If the range was as much as the bigger models I'd seriously consider one.

I suspect that the range will increase as the technology improves and that you'll be able to upgrade the power cells rather than having to get a new car.

That said, the range is going to be good enough for most people who own a car of that size.

Nice fad for the treehuggers to run with....and 'some 'environmentally friendly workplaces', gas stations etc., have the power points already....torque is bound to be good due to the electric nature of the thing, but honestly...0-60 is nothing more than a mild barometer of performance. and an electric motor will ALWAYS outdo a petrol engine in that regard.

Fans of the Segway and Greenpeace will love it...

I can't see why anyone would be against the idea of an electric car. Once the government gives the green light to driverless vehicles I reckon the petrol engine will be pretty much a thing of the past on our roads.

I like it.. I can definitely see myself with an electric car not too far from now - just needs to do the mileage for me to tow the bike to trackdays

Because people won't change until they have to....gas is a known and proven method of energy production, and will be around for generations to come thanks to fracking & other advances in oil production...until those reserves are exhausted completely there's no real reason to change just for the sake of it....and those reserves are conservatively estimated to last at least another two hundred years.
Add to that the fact that more and more people now work from home, reducing oil consumption as they do so, and the predictions move even further out, population growth estimates notwithstanding.

I'd have a Tesla in a heartbeat and tbh I was looking seriously at electric cars to replace Mrs Gee's ageing heap, but for various reasons it's not viable for us atm.

I also think that the issue of oil, petrol etc vs electric will be settled long before depletion of oil reserves, the increased cost of extraction, increasing pump price and the need to clean the environment up before our feet get wet will push electric cars up the agenda, the U.K. Forecast is 100% take up of electric cars by 2035, the U.S some decades later due to the coal and oil state dinosaurs in congress/senate holding back green legislation.

The already advanced tech will leap even further forward and with any luck we may find a way to recover some of the heat we've been pouring into the atmosphere for the last 250yrs of industrialisation. Maybe. Hopefully.

On the concept of electrically powered vehicles, it's almost bound to pay an increasing part in our futures IMHO.
Some major hurdles to overcome yet though.
