The MoD has already placed "advisors" in LHA's and other strategic positions .

I think those expanded powers will just be there to give the police more ability to deal with matters as-&-when they arise. Gives them some provision that's already set in stone rather than "$h!te..what do we do now??"

Sealed caskets.

Withdrawn completely, until the issue resolves itself (more sealed caskets).

Concisely illustrated by:
Kwacky wrote: The proposed legislation allows for the government to call on the army rather than the police to protect them and their interests. The MOD have already been informed. This means we will see armed forces on the streets.

Doctors can issue a death certificate without seeing the body. The plans will see coroners inquests with a jury being done away with.

So you could be taken off the streets, held, die and be disposed with within a few days.

I can't see Trump's response being "more balanced & restrained".? :D . Furthermore, if I had a choice of being under the Martial Law of UK or US forces, I can assure you that I would feel less unsafe with ours. ;)

Possibly one or two around the Derby area.
One in the Loughborough area.

Given that not to many people are going to want Rolls Royce aircraft engines for a while, maybe they could diversify into the rolling stock power units.

One thing is for certain and that's all Boris/Cummings plans for the next 5 years have been completely blown out of the water In just one week.

Good article. As he says, these powers are probably needed now but the key question is how long they will be left in place for. The bill says 2 years, which seems to be a long time. There's no mention of how they'll be taken away or if they can be extended.

Big Brother has the war it needs to further monitor our movements and to deal with people swiftly. It's a human rights nightmare.

It's a moot point, as at that stage neither one of us would have much of a choice, don't you think??

fwiw I think he comes across as reasonably level headed but a bit boring , I hope he can organise a reasonable opposition but I think he will be hampered by the intersectional politics that appear to be pervading the party .

I would think it will be much harder for the right wing press to rubbish him with his background which was Corbyns biggest problem.

His wife is Jewish which instantly kicks one of their biggest sticks into touch.
