EV will only be viable if we build power stations to cope with demand , preferably nuclear .

Hydrogen only works if its used in fuel cells, is my understanding. Its not a viable alternative to petrol to power ICEs.

Plus you need electricty to make the hydrogen in the first place.

I guess if you can build a big solar/wind farm or small nuclear generator near to the hydrogen plant you could get close to green hydrogen.

I like the idea of electric for town/short stuff with the option of hydrogen for longer or heavy stuff.

Personally I can't see an electric car arriving soon that will be able to tow my caravan the 200+ miles to Cornwall. At least not for a price I can afford.

The hydrogen fuel cells are getting smaller but much more difficult to make than an ev battery on a commercial scale
They are being used in shipping containers for remote places where this is no power successfully
I believe it is the way forward for hgvs and large vehicles
I have sold a robotic system to stack the fuel cell wafers

That's the thing isn't it?? The fossil fuels used to power a vehicle end up being used/burned upstream in order to provide the electricity for the end-user...in this case a vehicle. So the same fuels are used and the same extant pollution occurs, only now it's in a different place.

Nobody is mentioning battery recycling or dumping they are full of nasty materials and hard to dispose

But it doesn't create CO2 which is the biggest issue with ICEs.

If hydrogen is burned in an ICE then you are back to the nitrogen oxide issue which is a danger to human health.

Fixed that for you. It just moves the point of creation to the power stations. The UK does not invest in renewable sources despite being an island and having the best chance of zero fossil fuel energy stations.

I believe there are 2 or 3 forms in which hydrogen powered vehicles can exist and 1 or 2 of those emits nothing but H2O.

the cells I have been working on only emit H20 and are currently are being tested in HGVs but its a very intricate, expensive and complicated manufacturing process to build the units
EV batteries are being built at silly speeds on production lines and are relatively cheap

I read that after announcing 2021 Q4 production and deliveries numbers, Tesla gained $140bn in market capitalisation in one day. To put that into perspective, that is more than the total $131.4bn market capitalisation of VW.

Fun fact: That gain values each Tesla car delivered at more than one million dollars (eh Perky).!!

Utter lunacy imo. Fwiw when the major Manufacturers announced that they were going into full scale production, I was sure Tesla would crash. -Best not come to me for shares advice.

ive been dealing with them for the last 18 months it was never going to get off the ground from day one they couldnt retain staff and were so disorganised it was unreal
