I really hope you're right there ^ Kwacky.

My concern is more that a "Cold" War is really not his style at all....? :^

With the results that it's been kicking up recently, I'm thinking that democracy must actually be seriously broken mate.?

I wonder what we'll see soon in Europe, as France & Germany have elections coming up.??

Well, we survived when those Yankee muppets put Mr Ray-gun in the Whitehouse.
Although I look around the world today & a lot of the global issues that we face today are as a legacy of the ideology & pro-actions of his administration. (& fwiw a complicit UK government).

Reagan was very well advised as well as having had some political experience. He wasn't as daft as people made out and he certainly wasn't one for rash decisions. Politically he isn't my cup of tea but he was a decent president.

For all of his rhetoric and posturing I don't think Trump will be allowed to do half of what he said he will. The Houses in the US are republican and the Supreme Court needs sorting out, so on paper Trump could get on with things. The problem is the division he's created within his own party. I don't think he'll get the backing needed to push through the promises he's made on the way to the White House.

I expect (and hope) that there's so much he wants to do with the USA that he will have little time for foreign affairs. The big concern there though is if Russia feels it can get away with pushing its luck, like annexing half of Ukraine.

Like we have any choice, but just make sure he has a pretend one of these and not the real thing!

Doesn't the USA have a 100 day cooling off period before he is elected?

I'm going to keep my eye on whether the Clinton foundation investigation goes anywhere. Could be some money to be made betting on them going to prison.

On the face of it most will look back & think that he did little harm, or like yourself even see him as a having done a half decent job.
Nonetheless I'm not wavering from my earlier statement.: I personally can quite clearly see a direct link from the actions instigated by the administration under his Puppet-cy, and subsequent global consequences.
Whilst they may well have managed to avoid being associated with the fall out, the governments of that time are responsible for more loss of life & suffering than most could care to conceive.......

and breathe...... (smirk)

IMHO.

Seeing as the US has been involved in an overseas conflict for pretty much every year since independence it's always going to be easy to argue that a US President did the wrong thing, both at home and overseas.

Funding overseas militants/terrorists/freedom fighters has been going on since the Philippines uprising at the start of the 20th century. There's an argument that it started well before that with certain tribes being given guns in America.

It's all about viewpoint. You can stand at various sides and see different sides to the same events.

Fwiw I acknowledge all those points Kwacky.
I guess I must especially agree with your last comment, as I always endeavour to see both sides of every coin.

Regrettably it doesn't / can't change my perspective in this instance. :(

Yep, I perfectly understand and I'm not asking for any change from you. As you say, it's a matter of perspective.

Yep....the transition period, or whatever....there's all sorts of stuff for him to learn/become acquainted with...and for the USSS to get acquainted with in regard to him & his family. His whole world just got a lot smaller.

Yep, he did in part, chasing the star wars programme to end the Cold War.
