Seriously Old Skool Cool

Does nothing for me at all.... Had a mate who rode a 250 super dream which looked at bit like that, very boring looking bike. Life would be very boring if we all liked the same stuff.

I had a 125 superdream as a kid maybe that's the appeal.

Could be, I know I always lusted after an old fizzy, as I had one or two when younger, but I saw one not long ago up at Boxhill, and although it was nice and well rebuilt, it did not grab me, I thought why? I would not enjoy riding that for 2 seconds anymore... Ha ha ha

I never got the fizzy thing even back in the day tbh.

Its strange really because to me most older bikes look ..well just old. Some still have an appeal i must admit but they are few and far between.

I remember when i had my Suzuki Bandit back in the day and went and test rode the Daytona. I couldn't believe how much better the Daytona was in every single way (brakes, handling, acceleration), yet at the time Japanese sportsbikes had already moved on to the next level. The Bandit just felt dangerous after that test ride. The Daytona brakes were hugely better.

However nice the old bikes might look, they will still only ride like an old bike unless you upgrade suspension and brakes in a big and expensive way.

Totally agree. The crazy thing is think how good our modern bikes are now ........leaves the question what and how can they improve although I'm sure they will

Weight savings has to come next IMO.

I hope so but exotic materials are already heavily used on top end sports bikes.

The R1M has magnesium wheels and engine cases, alloy fuel tank, carbon body work, titanium valves and crank, titanium exhaust headers and is extremely small and compact in design also.

Problem is weight is overall bike weight is staying static as although the above shaves 10kg all the processors, control modules etc for all the new electronic technology is sticking 13 kg back on.

Lots of other ways to make materials lighter Blade, nothing stands still.

Let's hope for a 600 cc supercharged 165 kg wet sportsbike is my thinking

So basically a Moto2 bike, but with a supercharger, yes please!

Yep, but they're not road legal and need a team of mechanics looking after them.
