Apparently it was running with Rolls Royce Trent engines and from what I've read, admittedly on FB, it's engines would routinely send signals back to Derby letting Rolls Royce know everything was ok, so unless they could switch that from the cockpit as well, well dunno ?

Anything can be turned off just pull the cable out of the back if unsure. Even if ups power supply the batteries will eventually die.

I think cookie is right. Its unfortunately and tragically crashed with no survivors. Something suspricous about the circumstances of the crash though imo and that is what is being covered up as surely they should have a better idea on crash location. Apparently the current search area equates to 10% of the planet. Wtf questions need answering on why the location is so vague.

When was the last time any commercial pilot called an autopilot George ? lol, there are only so many airfields whether commercial or military that can land an aircraft that size, ok depending on weight of aircraft at final approach the further he flew the lighter he would become and could use a shorter runway so I wonder why satellites aren't out looking for aircraft sitting on runways ?, personally I think he suffered a catastrophic explosion at altitude and the debris field is spread over hundreds of miles, human bodies exiting aircraft at altitude and the kind of speeds they would flying at, approx. 560 mph, could mean they would be possibly burnt in an explosion, frozen by the altitude and hitting the water at a hell of a rate of knots , as far as terrorism is concerned the bulk of the passengers were Chinese I believe and Malaysia has a history of Islamic terrorism and the Chinese have been hit recently by Chines Muslims particularly the train station attack, but if it is terrorism why hasn't anyone taken the credit ?

I flew out of Langkawi to K.L. the runway does go right up to the edge of the sea. I rode between them on a scooter.

I thought the Americans watched every single movement of every plane from satellite?

I have no idea what happened to the plane but someone somewhere is hushing up some of the facts of this case, IMHO.

I heard some 'expert' say that any plane flying without an identifying signal would be shot down pretty quickly in most countries in the world.

Cookie, its' pretty easy to jam mobile phone signals with the right equipment.

What seems particularly unsettling is the evasive attitude of local authorities, when questioned about their knowledge of the events following the communications systems being turned off.

I suspect we would all like a surprise positive outcome, but am also fairly resigned to the fact that "Flo Ting and Sow King Wet" & friends are simply dispersed over a large area.

I put my phone into 'airplane mode', i can't find it now ?
