Cheers Rossgo, only 9 more nights then 5 weeks off, I just have to keep reminding myself of that.

Well summer will be dwindling soon, so try and get the kids in the pool or down to the beach a few times, get out for a bush walk or two and maybe hit a few trails on the MTB, but the to do list is (amongst full time care of the kids)

get Financial Settlement done
set up a trust for the kids (in case I croak it, don't want the ex to get it all)
move out of the cabin and back into my house (if ex has found somewhere)
get the Daytona fairings painted & put back together and rego (MOT/Tax)
repair the ZX10R fairings and paint
start run training again
join the gym
get a few more date nights in with the new lass.

I'm being highly optimistic and only time will tell, but the first and last ones are high priority!

CAD for those of you that don't know is an incredible piece of software that allows you to create pretty much anything you want, draft it and then get it made..

CAD for those of you that do know is a piece of software that never does what you want it to do !!!! I saved a subassembly from someone else's model, added it to my own Top Level Assembly and it decided to add ALL of the other model, not just the bit I wanted! It took 10 minutes to load the part, it's now taking another 10 minutes to undo these changes -_-

What makes it worse is that I've just been and had a toilet break so it isn't like I can go and kill time on there - instead I'm writing about it for you all to read

It's only as good as the information you (they) put in. You have to be anal about it, I used to refuse to import anyones drawings unless they used my layer system. But it's probably a lot different now and you're talking about 3D CAD.

PS AutoCAD sucks!

I'm using Siemens NX. Typically, anyone who has been here for more than 10 years uses feature-based modelling. I understand and can do feature-based but if I ever have to modify someone's model done that way I have to start fresh. It is impossible to edit someone else's model and get it right.

I completely agree it is all down to the user's inputs but it's still so frustrating. I've been away from CAD for about a year and what I could do back then was the very basics. Now I'm doing some pretty complex stuff and in massive assemblies. If you get it right first time it is quicker to do mods to parts within the main assembly because loading the top level back up takes a minimum of 5 minutes to do.... SO TIME CONSUMING !!!

I used to use a package called ParaCAD (Parametric) until been forced over to AutoSH!TE. It was way ahead of it's time, most people just used CAD as an electronic drawing board then. This is about 20 years ago, and way before 3D.

We developed a whole modular range of generators in one GA and pulled the parts out of it for manufacturing. Recon it saved me about 12 months of detailing manufacturing drawings.

That's the ideal way to go but we are still required to produce drawings due to tolerances.

With our Additive Manufacturing we just sent out an STL file and build parts

Not if you draw the tolerances into the GA ;)

We still had to produce the manufacturing drawings, but bear in mind in those days normally everything was drawn from scratch just like on a drawing board.

My f***ing stupid address.

I live down a road that shares two street names.
For some bizarre reason the left hand side of the street is different to the right hand side of the street.
Okay, fair enough, it's a bit weird, but not too much of a problem.
Until you realise that we have the same numbers on either side of the street.
Because you come to number 10 on the left hand side of the street before you come to number 10 on the right hand side, where I live, at least 50% of our mail has gone there when it's from a new delivery company.

I've made sure someone has been in all day today to accept a delivery.

So when I got an email saying "Delivery Attempted" I felt my blood start to boil!!!

I know it's petty and I can get the package on monday (it's only dog food) but it's still burning me up.

That is pretty ducking stupid, I've never even heard of a street with two names, & laid out like that.
However, if it's any consolation, the village I live in has no street numbers & just two postcodes (one for each end of the village). So when a courier uses the Postcode to try to find my house, their satnav puts them about a mile away.!

Resolved this... one of the guys I have confided in out here about what has been going on for me went and had a quiet word with him. He then came and saw me and apologised, said it was all in jest and he wasn't aware of the stress I had been dealing with.

He's been really good and even helpful the last few nights, it's made a world of difference to being here.

And as we discussed on Twitter a short while ago, those twats who have defective front and rear lights and those who decie not to put their ights n at all.

Cannot believe how many of these numpties I saw on the M25 last night coming back from the presentation I gave in Chelmsford.

And don't even think about getting me started on the centre lane hoggers who then had the cheek to flash me because I undertook them.

Had someone follow me to try and intimidate me after they nearly pulled into my van suddenly because their lane was blocked. What they didn't count on was me leading them into a cul de sac and being able to block them in before they realised what was going on. Middle aged, red faced, type 2 looking fat bloke and his Mrs. I pulled up, put my hazards on and took 30 minutes to unload while he sat there shitting bricks. He didn't say a word and his Mrs was fuming. Funking nob head. If it had been a few years ago I'd have done something alot more serious but I have calmed myself since that. I hope they missed an important appointment because of his cnut-like behavior.
