Thread revival.

Turns out I won a camera while out and about today. It's a Canon EOS 50d. I'm very much an enthusiastic amateur and am after some advice about lenses...same brand as the camera or aftermarket? Prime or zoom lenses?

all depends on your budget and what you want to shoot , I use canon cameras but dont own any of their lenses , Tamron are cheap , some of them are good others not so good , I use Sigma lenses , all zoom lenses for the versatility they give , I have never used a prime lens , they are supposed to be faster focusing and sharper than a zoom lens .

If I was on a budget and had to choose 1 lens it would be this one https://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/index. ... uct_id=102

I used one at the TT my first year there as I had a mishap with my main lens , very capable but has no image stabilisation , I have used it in its macro configuration on a number of occasions since then .
