It was a VERY weird time here. For about a week there was ZERO traffic on the roads here. Everyone stayed home, so most businesses were shut....the whole of LA County was basically on a lockdown. I did a 160 mile round trip & only saw maybe 4 cars the whole trip.

And a cop who pulled me over & told me to go the fcuk home.

The documentary has some horrific footage from the start of the riots. Anyone not black was being dragged out of their vehicles and beaten, often to death. It's very harrowing to watch. I didn't realise so many people died during the riots.

I understand the backlash. There's no way those officers should have walked, but having 10 white jurors helped.

The documentary shows the similarities with the The Watts Riots back in 1965.

I'll always remember watching TV footage of business owners in Koreatown firing indiscriminately at any rioters who came anywhere close to their stores.

53 dead, apparently....which rings a bell - but nearly 3000 injured!!!!?
I hadn't realised it was anything like that many.

The death toll goes up to 63 depending on which report you read. Over 20 of the murders were never solved.

One of the dead was a Korean lad, shot by Koreans who thought he was looting.

Paramedics who attended to Denny said he came very close to death. Soon after Green brought Denny to the hospital, he suffered a seizure. His skull was fractured in 91 places and pushed into his brain. His left eye was so badly dislocated that it would have fallen into his sinus cavity had the surgeons not replaced the crushed bone with a piece of plastic. A permanent crater remains in his forehead despite efforts to correct it.
