TT 2018 Thread

Post by C00kiemonster »

It starts tonight with practice - seems to be more practice this year too.

I do think MD will be very difficult to beat. Hutchy was off the pace at the NW200, McGuiness out. My hope is that Hickman and Hillier step up.

My biggest wish would be for Rutter to win - he's local to where i lived as a kid and was going well at the NW200. Worth a bet i reckon.

MD will be in the mix as usual, so looks like he will add to his tally of wins, hopefully, Hicky, Hiller, Harrison and co will take the fight to him, each of them are due something big, even Norton could bag a podium with how it has been making steady progress the last couple of years. Hope they all go home safe and sound after a good couple of weeks practise and racing

Yes , he is riding the Norton .

Hicky is on a Triumph 675 for the supersport , I think he should win that .
Hillier for the superstock
Dunlop for the senior and Superbike
Birchalls for the sidecars
Jessop for the lightweight

MD eill dominate on the BMW. 134 lap definitely on the cards.

Can't see hillier doing anything. Quick but been there years and not getting any quicker. I think he has peaked as a nearly man.

Hicky is MD main and probably only threat IMO.

Would love to See Gary Johnson do well. Top Bloke

Listening to Practice tonight - Dean Harrison did a 130mph plus on his first lap then 131 plus second lap. Incredible.

Hutchy looks well off the pace.

Davo Johnson has just secured Hutchy's ride on the KMR lightweight , either Hutchy wants to concentrate on the other classes or he isn't fit to do all the races , I think it's the latter , I don't think he'll be a threat this year .

Interestingly saw that MD is on a 2015 BMW with tyco, not the newest model, seemed strange to me.

Would love to see Hicky win on the big bike but Dean Harrison looks a major threat after free practice. My prediction for superbike race 1,

1.Dunlop
2.HArrison
3.Hickman

The bloke who got arrested yesterday for standing on the road during practice received a 4 week custodial sentence and is banned from the Island for 5 years.

After two nights of practice for this year’s Isle of Man TT William Dunlop has made the decision to withdraw from the remainder of the event for personal reasons. The thirty two year old made the decision after discussions with team boss Tim Martin and will leave the island to head home and take some time off before hopefully returning to winning ways later in the year.

William Dunlop
“This is a very difficult decision and not one I have taken lightly, I can only apologise to the team and all of our sponsors but I believe that continuing would be the wrong decision and would not give a true account of either myself or the team. I would like to thank Tim especially for how understanding and supportive he has been over the past few weeks, I obviously feel like I have let him and the team down but they have stood by me throughout. I am going to head home and take some time to recuperate before making a decision on when I will be back on the Temple Yamahas.”

Tim Martin
“Obviously this is extremely disappointing for us as a team and for me personally as I have been looking forward to working with William at the TT for some time. There is no race in the world however where having 100% focus and commitment is more important so it is the correct decision in the end for William. Hopefully after a few weeks off he will come back stronger, we all know what a natural talent he is so having a fit and well William back to fight for wins at the Ulster Grand Prix is now our focus.”

Interesting decision, wonder what the reasons are? Maybe it's just hit him how dangerous it is after losing Robert and Joey and now he's of an age that it's caught up with him, plus unlike Michael who has the real chance of taking home trophies to make the risk seem more worthwhile. Whatever it is if his heads not in the right place good on him for making the decision. Not the sort of place you can race if your not fully committed.

Fast times in practice tonight. Dean Harrison has done two laps over 133mph. One below 17 mins! That is fast. He comes in and is asked how it was?

Not trying really! Feck.

Dean is looking like he could win a couple , I was doubtful as he had never done a 133 and I knew he was going to have to if he was to stand a chance against Micheal Dunlop .
