TT 2016 - discuss...

Post by C00kiemonster »

I thought it worth starting a thread for the TT this year as its only a week away.

I love it. I've missed going for a few years but will still follow it on Manx radio live and on itv.

Anyone who hasn't been needs to go at least once.

What's everyone looking forward to this year? I'm looking forward to the fact that Guy Martin won't be there so others will get the limelight. Peter Hickman has got better and better at the event so I hope he wins one as an up and coming road racer. Will Hutchy win some more now he's on form? Will McGuiness add to his tally?

My personal highlight will be watching the old timer Bruce Anstey who is apparently running a RCV213 MotoGP derived bike this year. Could be very interesting and a departure from the norm.

Yes saw about Bruce Anstey riding on the RC213V on twitter yesterday.

Brilliant idea by Clive Padgett. Will be a real spectacular sight on the island.

He's never going to win more than Joey.. he doesn't feel justified in taking the record off him because of the electric bikes.

I do hope he wins a couple more though, he hasn't had luck on his side for a while at the TT

Bad news before it even gets properly underway :(

Further statement from Billown - some very sad news:-
Following an incident at Billown Dip during the 850cc Classic Practice on Friday evening, involving two competitors and two course marshals, the Southern 100 MCRC, organisers of the Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic Road Races, are able to issue the following details:
Unfortunately, local rider Dean Martin died as a result of his injuries, the other rider involved, Jamie O’Brien from Liverpool is described as serious but stable.
One course marshal suffered head injuries - both he and Jamie O’Brien have been flown to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool for further treatment.
The second course marshal, a retired competitor, has ankle and shoulder injuries and is expected to be discharged from Nobles Hospital later today.

I think Goose reckons it will be the wealthy immigrants who eventually get the TT banned.

I can't see it going. It's too big, too popular and creates so much wealthy for the whole Manx economy its just too important. Who ever tries to ban it will have one hell of a fight on there hand if they dare to try.

But for now let's just enjoy it for the truly awesome spectacle it is (rock)

Been listening to practice tonight and watching the results. Hutchy fastest, Dunlop looking quick and Anstey likes the RCV. First lap ever he came back in and said he liked it but needed some tweaking. Then went back out and was fastest of the night at Sulby (192 mph!) and then did two 127 mph laps on its 3rd and 4th laps (from a standing start).

Clive Padgett won't tell anyone how much power its got, but Anstey says its power delivery is incredibly strong and smooth out of corners.

If he gets this dialled in properly we could be in for a cracking year!

Oh we are definitely in for a cracker so many inform and fast boys. Hutchy is going to be hard to stop but I really hope John McGuiness gets a big bike victory.

RCV is a complete weapon but don't forget the awesome Suter 576CC 2 stroke GP prototype. More for the noise and the spectacle than any chance of a victory but still extremely special.

Really really wish I was there.

I think the whole "Let's Ban It!" movement just gives it more good publicity/notoriety. And, it's gotten to the extent that that sort of thing is just accepted as par-for-the-TT course.

I'd be disappointed if there wasn't an outcry about it.....the bad press just feeds the desire to keep it going.
