are you a brit who now lives in the sates then? i used to be a member of an american motorbike forum but no longer own the model of bike concerned, it was good to get to know them, a really nice bunch although i didn't care much for their penchant for hunting espectially when it mainly seemed to involve shooting some animal at extreme range.

Or a Multi, has an amazingly comfortable seat. I did 3,800 km in 10 days and had very little to complain about seat wise.

Cycling shorts are good for protecting the old plums ;) ...... not to great at helping support the buttocks though |(

For that you need some impact shorts. Used for snow boarding, skate boarding, motocross etc. .... I've tried a couple of pairs , some cheap ones off of the bay of E but the padding didn't land in quite the right position and recently a pair of demon ones. It's early days but there definitely an improvement. I've only used them on enduro type bikes where the seats are very narrow ( imagine sitting on a piece of 4" wide timber and you won't be far off ) but I will try them on the big SM and hopefully it'll improve that to.

You beat me to it scruff, I had an early Tuono and that was iron butt territory after a hundred miles, it needed fuel then, but the day longer the day the more uncomfortable it was. My Mrs got me some of those impact shorts and they do work.
Mind you the MT10 is all day comfortable, fuel stops are on a par with the Tuono, i.e frequently..... ;)

I dream of an all day comfortable bike :) .. I'm on seat number 3 on the 950 Sm and whilst number 2 & 3 are an improvement over the standard seat none of them are all day comfortable ;(

(wait) I "don't know if " I've mentioned this before mate, but in my unbiased opinion all your problems are easily resolved. It's just you're looking at the problems from the wrong perspective.? :
