I saw this, but my one question is....

and I'm not defending him....

But why did the copper not pull him over after the first offence? If he thought his riding was dangerous why not pull him over as soon as he saw he was dangerous rather than risk an accident by letting him continue? As I say not defending the numb nuts coz he was a proper muppet but just seems a bit crazy to me that hes done for dangerous riding yet the policeman allowed it to go on for so long.

I agree. The copper obviously to gather as much evidence as possible, but the first wheelie and the 100+ mph were both enough for that.

Should have stolen the bike then done it, would have got away with a months community service and a slap on the wrist

I said he should have stolen the bike first, that way the Police would not have been interested.

8 months is a joke considering people get away with far worse crimes that affect others with little more than community service.

I suspect they'll justify it with the old "we're sending a message" spiel..

Of course they're constantly "sending a message" about bike theft, as the epidemic of thefts pretty clearly indicates.

Personally I don't feel myself to be in a worthy position to condemn the actions of offender in the OP.

Yea I agree with everyone else, why did the old bill just follow for such a long time. I'm annoyed that he got 8 month in prison for this. Yes he was a nob but not worthy of 8 month. Judge was a d!ck. This is why I have very little respect for the old bill, there was no work there done by them all they did was follow, a stolen bike and they say 'nah it's gone and it's your fault, good luck with insurance for 5 years'.

1 wheelie should of been enough to have a chat with the rider and maybe a fine and leave it at that, if caught again points and escalation from there not watch for miles on end and let him jump from the bridge with a noose around his neck. I bet the rider would of cried and felt really sorry for what he did and make him think about his riding from that point on.

What's the absolute worst that happens in a biker crashes? In reality, the rider and maybe 1 other person will die.. worst case. The most likely outcome is the rider injures or kills himself - so what?!

You get taxi drivers with 20+ points on their license still driving around "because their car is their job so they have to continue driving" and you get countless people who do hit and runs - they don't get jail time!!!

IMO, a stern talking to is enough for most riders, if they are a repeat offender then ban them - if they ride without license then they go to jail.

I've dealt with a multiple fatal and serious injury case which started off with a motorcycle. She walked away.

But generally you're right, it's the motorcyclist that pays the ultimate price.

I guess if it was a car or hgv driver doing something stupid we would all be up in arms.

There trying to send a message that this will not be tolerated but making an example of one person really does not change how i ride just makes me more wary of who's watching. which for me is an even bigger distraction.

After coming back from Europe I thing the driving standards in this country are poor people are far to aggressive that goes for bikers and drivers. I found even my self raging as soon as i was on the uk roads at people not using the road correctly which made me ride a lot more aggressively. Not sure Slapping big fines or sentences are the way forward maybe a bit more education,
