Yep. The should be unless they're Euro 3 bikes but registered now. I think some companies are allowed a run off period so you can still get 2017 bikes without ABS.

The E4 regs are noise and pollution. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/2016 ... lly-means/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; sets out the issues over emissions.

Mandatory Anti-lock brake systems (ABS) for motorcycles

The European Parliament requests manufacturers equip all new motorcycles with ABS as from 2016. Only Enduro and Trial motorcycles are exempted from the provision. The Commission had left the option to manufacturers whether to install a Combined Braking System (CBS) instead of ABS for light motorcycles (A1) with an engine capacity from 51 cm³ to 125 cm³ but IMCO surprisingly decided to tighten the Commission’s proposal and to mandate ABS for A1 motorcycles as well.

A few of the bikes now allow you to turn down or turn off the ABS. It comes on when you start the bike on but for example on the new Street Triple you can select track mode which removes abs.

Is the ABS system different to the TCS systems in the respect that (on some bikes) the TCS is left on the setting you used last but the ABS will always go to a default setting?

I think it depends on the bike. On my z1000sx I could turn the TCS off, but it would reset to 1 when you next start the bike up. I'm not sure if it's the same on the 2017 model.

On most new sports bikes there are various settings, such as track, road, rain. They all have different levels of ABS and TCS. The bike will stay in that mode. Some will have a custom mode as well and as far as I know the bike will stay in custom mode but ABS will be on each time you start the bike up.

There must have been some banging of heads on walls during the meetings to decide this...

It's bad enough when we are trying to decide whether to read current between limit switches or based on time let alone all these other parameters on a bike!!

Mcn boys wanked all over it and then said the new gsxr wasn't much different than the older model
All polar opposite to other reviews I've seen about both bikes

Seems strange. The Gixxer is getting really good reviews. I know the looks aren't up to much but it's supposed to handle really well and the engine is a stonker.

The new GSXR is actually quite attractive in person - I hate photos of it though.

MCN reviews aren't trustworthy these days, PB and Fast Bikes seem to do the best reviews, and the occasional review from 44teeth. When MCN reviews give the opposite feedback to these 3 I know something is a miss.

To be honest, all superbikes these days deliver more than 90% of riders can handle so choose the one that fits you best ergonomically, is on the best deal, nicest paint scheme and looks/sounds the best to you. The weak link will be the rider

The thing I disliked the most was the rear subframe, looks like it came off the 2004 750.

The paint is super-thin again and I'm sure the engine paint will also come off and the case will rust after a single downpour but the actual fit and finish looked good to me overall. Better than Yamaha MT-07's/09's at least !!

I know there have been complaints about the build quality on the MT10.
