A grown up decision for once...

Post by TonyB »

I'm selling my bike. It's been on my mind for a couple of weeks now and it makes sense, to me anyway.

I'm going to be in actual full time, 5 day a week student and my free time will be family stuff and actual studying (as opposed to my current status as professional skiver) so biking is taking a back seat for a while. If I get some savings together I may get a hack in the future (also to keep my no-claims ticking along) but for now it's going on hold. When I'm through education and in employment we'll be financially comfortable and I'll be able to get another shiny new bike. Don't get me wrong, I'm not skint, but the money could be better used elsewhere and not sat depreciating in my garage.

I've mulled it over for a week or so and I'm taking the step tomorrow. Bike's getting a clean and polish , getting SORN'd and going on autotrader, I sold a '97 VFR750 in under a week on there and got less dreamers than eBay or Facebook.

I'll be sticking around on here, I'll be another non-bike-owning-biker like a member of our U.S contingent, offering sarcasm and remarks where they're unnecessary and unwanted

That makes sense. Is it worth getting a cheap bike now so you've got one if you ever feel the need and so you're no claims builds up?

I was thinking of getting a £50 scooter frame and v5 and having that ticking over

I will have a look for a cheap knock about I reckon but for now I've got to revise for GCSE exams starting this month.

Personally I'd stick with being a professional skiver. It's fcuking awesome.

I just did a webuyanybike quote out of interest and they're offering more than I paid for the bike.

I actually have a scooter with some plastics, an engine, a horn, etc.. it's been sat in my mum's garden for 5 years if you want to take it off my hands for £50? It isn't usable currently.

I keep wanting to do it up and use it as a run-around hack but I just don't have the time.

Until you take it to them and they find a number of issues with it and offer you £2k less

They come and collect it on a van. I have no qualms in making them drive to me and then turning them down if they do that lol

This does make sense Tony co considering you will be a student there's no point having a lovely bike just sat there. Good luck with the sale

(wait) Actually there was a TB on 675.cc who's signature line used to read; "Yes, I do realise I don't even have a bike"

Hope you enjoy being a full time mature student.

Webuyanybike. I've gone the easy route. Taking accessories of ready for eBay this weekend when it's, hopefully, dry.
