Buxton tops the UK charts again.

Post by Monty »

Not sure why Long Hill gets "78% other", but suspect other is a lot of head on collisions. There's a really nasty bend that tightens half way around it and I've ended up on the wrong side of the road more than once.
Amazingly, three of the roads all lead into Buxton. Presumably, any biker entering Buxton still attached to their motorcycle - rather than skidding along behind it - gets a medal.
Clearly no one knows about or uses Itchy's Leap.

LOLZ @ "Itchy's Leap"!!!

That bridge needs a road-sign to commemorate the event.

And an annual competition/re-enactment.

Do bikers still use the Cat n Fiddle ?

I thought average speed cameras killed the popularity of the road.

Longhill was bikings best kept secret for years. Great little run although I rarely ride it these days, it used to be regular haunt and even landed me in court many years back (blush)

Only for the views! It's a pap road to be honest, but the speed camera's are only on between Buxton and the Cat & Fiddle Pub, we think! Never proved the theory and always stop on a certain corners before the cameras but there is another road that's a different length between them.

It was in the press about how they couldn't use the data because they didn't know which way the car/bike had travelled. Then it all went quiet, but to date I've not heard of anyone getting done on that section into Mac, only on the Buxton to Cat section. (wife included)

They moved that camera years ago so now going down the different road makes no difference. You pass 2 cameras after the turn off and before the pub coming from the Mac side, which is the best side for twisties.

As you say people reckon there not turned on but the same people won't test there theory so confidence in it is low.

You can still pass the first camera on the Mac side and turn down Ankers Lane popping out near the Pub Camera. Like you say though, I'm not testing the theory.

It's a pap road anyway, apart from that bit in the middle

The middle bit has 2 cameras and that was the only bit I liked.

Seeing as they paid to move the camera you would assume it is operational or why else move it.

Those cameras must have destroyed the pubs takings I reckon.

They did move the first camera but there are still two ways to cut through to Anker Lane after it.

You'd have thought someone would have had a quick look at the map before they fitted the cameras.
