The articles says the sp1 has shed 15kg and now has a kerb weight of 195kg.

Strange as the old model had a kerb weight of 199kg when launched 8 years ago, which is clearly not a 15kg loss.

I suspect there being clever and comparing the abs model which was 210kg kerb weight. Basically as hondas own in house ABS weighed a hefty 10kg where as the industry standard bosch system weighs 3 kg and Honda have now adopted the bosch abs and electonics package.

I'm not a fan of the looks tbh.

Each to there own but hopefully better in the flesh.

Bit naff the hole in the frame which used to be covered by fairing now has a cheap n naff plastic cover screwed on with one bolt.

I think it looks unfinished. What is with the frame all on show, the plastics look like there's bits missing where the frame has been filled in with a bolt on plate?. Looks like the plastics are easily removed for diy oil changes though, the 08-16 bike is a pig to work on in that regard...the tabs are a nightmare. Was waiting for this with baited breath, but may as well keep mine.

and the good think about keeping the same frame is that the new subframe will fit on my 2011, along with the rear tail. Lovely jubbly.

I think it looks really really nice....the swingarm is a work of art, as is the rear subframe. The tank looks like some thought went into it re. leaning your torso against it.
Doesn't even attempt to waste time with any "pillion" nonsense, so a nice compact tail section.
Turn signals on the mirrors are great....just pull the whole shebang off for trackdays.

I'd prefer black wheels. The cover everyone is on about....well, if that's the only fault to another-wise great looking bike then that's not much to complain about.

Reading MCN and sounds a good bike. More photos in the paper and have to say I'm really starting to like it.

Registeres my interest so hopefully test ride invite will be heading my way in the new year. (y)

I can;t see Honda screwing it up with the Fireblade, I'm sure it'll be an excellent supersports bike for the road,

They will be hoping for a class leader like back in 92 when the original was launched 25 years ago.

To be frank they've had long enough to prepare a new model and enough opportunity to look at the opposition.
