Suzuki Gsxr750 test ride

So i went to Padggets to have a look at the Gsxr750 / 1000. Having chatted to the guy at the Suzuki part of the dealers he was saying that there is limited stock new gsxr750 they had not got any for sale as they were all Sold and to get one would mean finding one in a dealer. I then asked if he knew anywhere i could test ride one he laughed and said no. Went through pricing and they seem pretty good 10,200 ish 0% apr for 4 years + free yoshi exhaust , engine casing , bar ends etc..

I got on my bike road 100 yards down the road and went to the Kawasaki dealers to have a nosy. There staring at me was a used Gsxr750 on 13 plate. So i asked about it and asked if i could go for a test ride. Yep no problem.

Getting on the bike it sat low. and looked in decent condition the tyres were not great and slightly squared off. Setting off down the road it did not feel great. After just getting of the Zx10r it a bit felt cheap. Any bumps were bouncing the bike around and it felt a bit unsettled. The bike had brembo calipers but the lever had little feel and lacked in power. Opening the bike on the road it barked and started to make sense the engine started working above 8k and had a really nice strong pull right up to the redline. it was intoxicating seeing the shift light flashing away and snatching the next gear. A quick trip down the motorway and on to some local roads i was getting more confident with the bike it was easy to move around on and felt i could really hang off the bike. i approached a round about were i was planning on turning round and heading back to the dealers. However i decided that i would go that bit further and the more i road it the better the bike felt. So easy to ride and felt like a pair of old slippers. The motor does take a bit of spinning up. In the right gear and in the right rev range it was fantastic it felt like just the right amount if power surging forward with not much drama. I eventually took the bike back to the dealers and was quite smitten with it. It may not be the prettiest bike and it did feel a little tired (even with only 7k on the clocks) I also believe someone has messed with the suspension. However the riding the bike on A/B roads it all made sense.

Would i buy one YES and i think a Gsxr750 is going to be my next track bike

I had a k2 track bike it was awesome,perfect power and handling.Build quality was shit though

Nice little review. I've never been tempted by a Suzuki but 750cc makes a lot of sense.

You could really use the power one the road. Its a shame more manufacturers don't offer a bike in that size

When I had a little look at the 750 last year there were some stupidly good deals if you'd take a less popular colour, there were loads available. It always reviews well too. If they are saying there are none left is there a new one on the way?

I'm pretty sure it was a bit of dealer bull crap was not over impressed with the dealer took them 20 minutes to come over and see me while they discussed what days they were working. He also shirked the question on how much my bike was worth cause he knew he was insulting me. 4500 for my zx 10 cause they fall to pieces when they hit 20k

He said that they would need to update it with abs at least to comply with euro 4

Totall bull as Perkles says. It's only new bikes that need to comply with latest regs.

Should have asked him why all the second hand stock he had wasn't fitted with ABS.

Good write up rocket nice to hear you like it and would buy one. I think it's in my top 3 of bikes I would likely change to after my current one to be honest

All I can say is I like my little gixer 600 track bike, until I have run the wheels off that I will stick to it, I know I could go faster on it, so still lots to improve on that for me anyway.

However with the issues in Almeria this year I got to ride both Jakes and Neil's 750's wow!! I mean wow, what a difference they do make, so much more torque, you really feel it out of corners and up hill, i know they are both a little tricked up to your normal machine, but wow! so much fun.
