So here's my plan...

Post by Cavetroll87 »

In the words of Baldrick "I have a cunning plan" well maybe not cunning but interesting I think none the less. So what I am planning on doing is booking a week off work next year in order to do a charity ride to raise funds for the Kent air ambulance.

So what will I ride?
I am not planning on using my bike, instead I am going to set a limit of probably £500 pounds (maybe less) to buy a scooter, yep thats right a step through scooter, I am probably gunna use a 125 tho as im not sure how safe itll be on some of the faster roads on a 50cc moped but I could change my mind over that.

Where will I go?
My plan is to go to each of the BSB tracks in England (so no Assen or Knockhill) so start at Brands, then Thruxton, Silverstone, Donny, Oulton, Cadwell, Snett then back to Brands. Im currently thinking of trying to do it in a week.

Its all very early stages atm and im planning on roping my mate Ben into it, but if any of you guys fancy a challenge with a difference let me know as like I say the idea is in its infancy atm. Ill probably camp out, maybe at the circuits themselves if need be.

So yeah, thats my cunning plan (y)

That's an excellent idea.

I can't dedicate a week but I'll be happy to join you for a day. Plus I'll do all I can to promote it on twitter and facebook for you.

No, I think I worked it out as roughly 100 miles a day avoiding motorways buts thats assuming I dont get lost lol

The longest stint was Oulton to Cadwell, that was around 150 miles

Sounds like a top plan mate. It's highly unlikely that I could get a whole week off, but Thruxton is my neck of the woods so would like to think I could take a day off and join you for that leg of the journey.

You'll be fine for directions, just so long as you don't stop for fuel ;)

You could try phoning / emailing the track owners telling them that its a fund raising event. You never know they might do it for a bit of publicity.

So thinking today about it and my thoughts are this, a 125 scoot has a speed of about 60, not a lot, but more than enough most of the time, so is it too easy doing it on that, surely it's more of a challenge doing it on a 50cc ped, deresticted obviously lol for that full 16 year old 45mph, not sure atm but thinkin maybe to make it more of a challenge that's the way to go

Cavetroll, i think you would get more interest on a 50cc ped as that is restrictive!!

I'm near to Silverstone so could catch up with you on that leg, and the pace of a 50cc ped is about my limit anyway :)

I think maybe to get some real interest you have to be a little more flamboyant as there are quite a few of these happening

One such guy is doing 600 miles in 24 hours on a ped for prostate cancer

Can't you do it naked ??? just a thought :D
