Today Reading Toy Run. Approx 1300 bikes turned up with another 360 odd pillions. Always for a great cause. Did start to piss it down during the middle, got soaked! But made it worth it when we all handed in the presents

I'd love to do the toy run one year, always seem to have something on the save weekend. Saw quite a few bikes and riders all dressed up.

That rain was epic though, wasn't disappointed I missed that.

Nutz - Toy Run is defo worth it...when you hand in the toy you know it's going to someone who will appreciate it. Don't think I've missed one apart from the year before last when we woke up the the whole place was covered in white!

Started the commute in rain mode #standard at the moment. Then realised the roads where pretty dry so stuck it in dynamic and rode it like I stole it..

Same. It's almost depressing.

I just keep reminding myself that the warmer weather is only a few months away, and then my mpg will drop further...

Gave the Versys a quick wash, mostly the key bits like lights and brakes. Scrubbed and lubed the chain. Topped up the ACF50

Gave the Honda a decent wash then dried it. Took it to the garage and filled up the tank. Back home and it's ACF50 time. Lubed the chain then put some fuel stabiliser in. Shuffled the bike into the corner of the garage, put it on the main stand, gave the wheels a wobble then put it away for winter.

Started it and held on for dear life... Feck me it's windy out there!

In other news, my new laminate gear does an excellent job of keeping me dry and also drys very quickly itself (dull)

Another cold morning.

Another ride with shitty road salt goo all over the visor.

Do you keep a wet sponge on the bike? Probably the most useful bit of kit I had when commuting in terms of vision

I've tried that. It gets too dirty too quickly.

The road salt leaves a very sticky secretion and there's loads of it. You know how quickly cars get dirty this time of year.

I've tried all sorts of things. The best I can hope for is to ride behind someone cleaning their windscreen and I get some cleaner spray on the visor.

This is true.. I get through 4litres of screen washing every 3 weeks of driving from motorway and back road driving.

Thought about attaching a hose pipe?

I usually end up doing half of the ride with the visor up

Oh really? That was always fatal for me.. once its up I could never put it back down because water or dirt would get on the inside then I couldn't wipe it off.

I used to use a sponge and my winter gloves have a squeegee built into the index finger and that combo worked okay. Wasn't great but was the best solution I found. My commute was only about 5 miles into the city centre or 7 miles down back roads. This was before I got a car and started working 20miles away down the M5

Eeek. Get a camelback, fill it with screen wash, squeeze the nozzle over your visor (....steady) and give your helmet a good rub.

Apologies.. I couldn't stop myself. It could work though

Hhahahah it was **** mental wasnt it. had to slow down to 50 on the A5 at one point. Gale winds, torrential rain. Even a little bit of hail. On unlit roads, and steaming visor. I was basically just guessing.

I was also using the knee out in the direction of the wind trick to try to keep me upright and in a straightish line.

Was exciting and scarey in equal measure.

I was wondering what the car drivers I was overtaking were wondering. :D

The Angels worked really well in those conditions

Freezing my tits off.

Been to look at two cars today. Covered about 150 miles in total. Been through beautiful sunshine and dry roads, torrential down pours with high winds, and everything in-between.

Dropped the bike off for a service and check over. The Versys is fine but he's advised me to have the front bearings replaced in the next two to three thousand miles. I had noticed the slight steering issue.

They thought my front brakes were leaking until they clocked it was ACF.

I was considering car today thinking traffic might start to get lighter, but it was still mental. So bike was still the best option.
