I've ridden most colour bikes: yellow, green, black, white, red to name a few. You don't get seen any more or any less. If someone looks, they'll see you. If they don't look, they won't.

I think the fact the looks are in contention is a good thing for a commuter. With Fluro wheels and bright light along with a face that a mother could hate is surely going to get you noticed - isn't that a good thing in commuting terms
