Despite what the tossers at "Brake" (who do not have a clue, say, bearing in mind that I was interviewed on the radio when Brake said that we should introduce an offence of failing to stop and report an accident ) putting my professional driver and rider head on for a moment, I see potenti...

Re: Another insurance thread

But be aware that if you suffer an injury as a result of someone elses negligence, any monies you receive will be claimed back and deducted from your compensation in the same way as any benefits paid during a period of incapacity in a non fault crash. Run that one by me again. In most injury cases ...

Re: Another insurance thread

I asked but they don't do it. It's £500 for the MV and it's £250 for the other two. If I crash I can claim up to £15,000 for my person injury even if it's my fault, so out of one hand and into the other ;) Worst case is all 3 bikes are stolen and I'm £1,000 down before I even start making claims. I...

Based on what I have seen on their website, I will be very surprised if they get through the EC22/05 accrediation for the UK which as you know is required before they can go on sale here.

The day has arrived

In that as of today (Friday) after 30+ years I am mortgage free having made my last payment this morning. What a lovely dare I say smug feeling it is knowing that the pressure is off not having to make that payment anymore and I can now even consider looking for a part time job if needs be :) (group...

£731 last year £1266 this year. I called and she managed to drop £200 off without even trying. She reckoned Aviva have changed their policies hence the price rise. Wouldn't quote me for anyone else. Said the panniers and top box on the AT were putting people off as it's a modification beyond manufa...

Re: Mandatory speed limiters to all new vehicles within 3 ye

Accidents cost a fortune. A fatal accident on the road costs the tax payer at least £1m. Last figure was £1.65 million per fatality. The £1 million figure dates back about 25 years. One of the big issues that will have to be considered is the same as when the Government was considering the introduc...

Re: What are you doing today ??

Today is being spent preparing for a job interview tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed, legs crossed, in fact anything that can be crossed is crossed. My presentation is ready, shoes shined, haircut done, travel arrangements sorted.... It has been many many years since I had to go to a formal interv...

Surprising

I had a phone call from a chap this afternoon who still had my mobile phone number from a talk I gave to a motorcycle group 5 or 6 years ago and now wanted my help after a bad crash He had my old business card in front of him He has sustained some horrific injuries. Anyway, the point I was that I fi...

Credit where credit is due

Thursday last week, I received a reminder that my driving licence was up for its 10 year renewal/update. So, rather than wait, I thought I would get on and do it and try the online system. fairly straight forward and simple, everything including payment went through OK and so I thought it would take...

I did say in the article that there must be hundreds of different thoughts and ideas. They are just 5 that have worked for me over the years.

The Christmas edition of South East Biker Magazine is out now. My contribution is on page 26 but ignore who I work for in the opening sentence.

Re: Someone please let me know...

And the dual laser cameras on a cantilever usually positioned off the side of a gantry? The ones that don't use the lines on the road. So is it fair to say that the smart motorways aren't average speed? Some are, some aren't. It will vary from area to area Depends on what Motorway, which Police for...

Re: Someone please let me know...

When is a speed camera an average or a static? I know the big temporary ones in yellow with signs saying average are average, but the smart motorway networks? My thought is that they are static cameras? A static camera is usually along the lines of a Gatso and are defined by the callibration marks ...

T.C. ahh right ok thanks for the info. That's a question I've never known the answer to and I was even asked it by a couple of others as we've never really known! I hate these cameras, it's so tirering keeping at such a slow speed along a long length of what was fast motorway! Sent from my SM-G935F...

T.C. These cameras - are they capturing your speed between each camera and therefore you get a ticket between point A first camera and point B second camera, and so on and so forth until the speed limit changes back to standard speed so therefore you could get multiple tickets at one road works The...

Re: Someone please let me know...

In the roadworks juch as between junction 10 and 8/9 they are on all the time. They measure time over distance to give an average speed, so the faster you go the higher your average speed, the slower you go the lower your average speed (which may seem a bit obvious) but at the end of the day it all ...

Re: Anyone know of any jobs going?

Good luck to you TC. Never good. Is your company struggling or restructuring then? It seems a bit of both. Good luck with your search, what area are you looking, geographically ? Well geogrsphically it all depends on what I am offered. I have worked from home since 2008 but covered nationally, so u...
