Re: I wonder how many?

The statute of limitations is supposed to, and/or needs to, take issues like this into account ....so it's not in place from the date of the incident but from the time it's first reported, a claim is filed, etc. 120+ fractures to his head (!!!!!) ought to be enough to indicate there's likely to be ...

I wonder how many?

I had to feel sorry for a chap who called me a few days ago. He was on his motorcycle when he was forced to take avoiding action because of a careless driver. As a result of taking avoiding action he was unable to avoid hitting a pothole which in turn threw him off his bike and a 4x4 travelling in t...

Re: Insurance again, but for the car

Although insurance has risen to way above what it really should be. I don't think I'd be driving if I was to start now, I feel fairly fortunate I started 14 years back I am with you on that. When I passed my test for the bike in 1976, my first full licence bike was a Suzuki GT380 triple (I had been...

I know Terry Birtles the MD of Moto-Direct and the importer of Dainese, Arai, AGV, Alpinstars and manufacturer of RST amongst others, very well. They are also importers and distributors of a lot of pedal cycle PPE as well. I know that Terry's mantra is that if you offer a good service, the customer ...

Insurance again, but for the car

You may recall back in early June I told the story of how some idiot had banged my car which was parjked outside my house whilst he was reversing into a parking space. 20 years living here, never had an issue until this idiot decided that he would show us all how not to park. Anyway, I did not claim...

He'll wear that vest rain or shine...he'll be used to it. That said, if they're anything like a Kevlar vest (and I have no idea if they are, except their principle is the same), then they're a bit restrictive & warmish at the best of times. You never get used to it. I threw away 3 sets of BKS i...

Re: Insurance questions

Personal injury inurance is only worth having if you do not intend to make a personal injury claim against anyone because whatever gets paid out is usually deducted from your final settlement figure. Hope that makes sense? I didn't understand this bit. I was thinking personal cover in case a **** u...

Re: Insurance questions

Until about 3 years ago when the rules changed, I would have advised people to avoid legal expenses insurance like the plague. However these days my opinions have changed for a number of reasons which I will try and explain briefly. Firstly, an insurer cannot force to you use a panel solicitor appoi...

I think we should hold TC to account, for all those he had been responsible for gifting such a cosseted lifestyle. ;) I spent all my service bar my two years probation as a youngster on Traffic. I left the majority of imprisoning to the superstars AKA CID and the Detectives. I just took people off ...

Re: Did anyone see BGT tonight?

I get where you're coming from, I really do, but someone living homeless on the street is for the main part out of reach of the govt., assistance programs, etc. You're housing someone...be they incarcerated or otherwise, then there's a duty-of-care, a responsibility that's taken on. And that's some...

In NZ it is a 5 year jail term for killing a police dog. What's the punishment for killing a police officer? These days, a short holiday at her majesties pleasure where they get 5 star accomodation and facilities, a slap on the wrist and told not to be a naughty boy (or girl) ever again ;)

they have the honorary title of "canine-police-officer" (or however it's termed), and I get that. BUT...a police dog is a piece of property ---. To the first point, that might apply in the USA and other countries, but the term Canine Police Officer or similar has never been used here in t...

I am not usually a fan of Britains got talent, but if any of you know the story of Police Dog Finn and his handler Dave Wardle from Hertfordshire, then you will know the story of how Finn saved the life of Dave despite sustaining multiple stab wounds. https://www.fabulousfinn.com/" onclick=&quo...

Fantastic film and the 3 hours duration will fly. For those of us who have followed all 21 previous Marvel films it does tidy up many of the loose ends and the humour is brilliant, especially Chris Hemsworth and without giving anything away there are one or 2 surprises. Highly recommended I hope you...

Who thought it would be so hard to spend money?

My garage needs a new roof (Badly) and so I spoke to several local roofing companies asking for a quote. In total I spoke to 7 local firms so I would have a good cross section of prices, guarantees, time scales and so on. All 7 made appointments to visit me so that they could provide an accurate est...

Re: Mandatory speed limiters to all new vehicles within 3 ye

I disagree. Speeding fines don't cover the costs of accidents on the road, so that's not a concern. The speeding limiter can be overridden when needed. So I don't think we'll see more accidents. The limiter won't be the only piece of tech in the cars. It'll be alongside a host of other driver aids ...
