I am quite proud of myself

I have hit the 1 year anniversary of when I quit smoking

To say I am quietly proud and slightly chuffed with this achievement is an understatement.

Here is to the next 12 months as an ex smoker.

Re: What are you doing today ??

Just preparing for my meeting with Moto-Direct tomorrow at their head office in Derby. Moto-Direct are the Arai, AGV, Dianese, RST, Wulf (to name but a few) importers/distributors, and they also store some fabulous race biles there as well. There is also what can only be described as a museum there ...

New road sign regs could open up a whole can of worms

Some of you may be aware that from the 22nd of April, new powers came into force regarding the placing and usage of road signs. Whilst some of the new rules are actualy quite sensible, there are one or two which I think are going to open up a whole can of worms, escpecially for example where it is n...

Re: Talan Documentary

Just a quick update.

I have just received my invitation to attend the premier in London on the 5th of May.

Black tie job, but worth it I reckon.

I might find out then when the documentary will be on general release or what channel is taking it on.

I will keep you posted

Reviewing a 72 accident reconstruction report. If your kids ever think about becoming lawyers, refer them to this thread. I am halfway through reviewing a full lever arch file of statements and legal arguments relating to a fatal bike crash. Not even got to the photographic evidence yet. Weekend of...

Re: Well done Dorset Police

Shouldn't your daughter having used her forensic sleuthing skills to track down the culprit herself??? :^ Nice outcome!! Well that has become a bit of a standing joke as I joke with her about going to extremes to get hands on experience. ;) So she comes back and says "But Dad, you are the ex c...

Well done Dorset Police

It has become common place in recent years for people to slate the Police for all sorts of reasons. Well, for once I am going to counter that and say well done to them for a job well done. My daughter is studying forensic science at Bournemouth University. Last year she and her flat mates moved into...

Re: A question about a potential talk or presentation

If anyone is a member of the Thames Valley RoADAR group or the Wey Valley Advanced Motorcycle group, I am guest speaker at Thames Valley on Wednesday night and Wey Valley in Guildford on Thursday night. If you are there, do come up and introduce yourself and say Hi.

Re: A question about a potential talk or presentation

Yes, I would. But I suspect like most of us much depends on the topic. I've been to a couple of talks in the past and found them to be a bit preachy. The sort of topics I would be interested in would be things like - common reasons for crashes (talk us through a couple of incidents, what went wrong...

A question about a potential talk or presentation

As some of you know, I quite regularly get asked to give presentations to various motorcycle groups and clubs around the country on a variety of motorcycle/legal related subjects. However, I appreciate that not everyone is a member of a group and club but still have a wish to attend such an evening ...

Re: What ails you today?

I've not been sleeping too well lately. My wife has started snoring. I used to have that problem. One of the advantages of being a biker is wearing ear plugs. I wear them in bed as well, shuts her out perfectly. I have used ear plugs when I sleep for nearly 30 years and SWMBO can snore to her heart...

Re: What do you want to vent about today?

I have the day off today as I am going to a family function this afternoon. So had a lie in, went downstairs, did my breakfast, turned on the telly to get the overnight news headlines just as Fake Britain was about to start on BBC1 :( It was the episode regarding fake bike kit again..... Fortunately...

If you are stopped on the roadside, then you should be given a verbal NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) as part of the reporting process. So he/she will say " You will be reported for consideration of the question of prosecuting you for the offences of..........." He will then give you ...

Re: There's never a copper around when you need one

It was last night so I was on the way home. I think you're right about the attitude. I'm always polite with them, no point winding up someone who could be the bigger arsehole and throw the book at you. I could have been done for the plate if he wanted to. When I served, my attitude was always treat...

look at road wars. I remember in Langley there was film crew (road wars) The main feature of that programme was Pat Knight who was an old crew mate of mine when we were based at Marlow and then he became my opposite number at Taplow when I was at Reading but we were part of the same traffic area. Re: There's never a copper around when you need one

Still think we learn more from a copper who is happy to point out why we shouldn't be doing something than by someone who immediately wants to book you. Which I agree with, providing you are doing something wrong in the first place and therefore being given valid advice. Being told or suggesting th...

Re: There's never a copper around when you need one

Don't they do you for driving without dare care or careless driving? The absolute offence for nearside overtake (or undertaking) was removed from the statute books with the introduction of the 1972 Road Traffic Act. That only leaves the option of careless or dangerous driving, however...... To secu...
