Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering

I fired up compare the market and got a quote of £670 from Bennett's, not good, not terrible Then added my claim and CD30 (Careless/inconsiderate driving) and hit "get quotes"... The cheapest was Bikesure at £1323... Why do we protect that NCB again? (bandit) I'm almost hoping they write i...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering

No update but they did send my insurance renewal quote... £1310 (facepalm)

With no decision on the current claim yet that will go up despite protected NCB of 12 years.

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering

Just got a ping from Datatool, my bike is now in Surrey, bit of a jump from Carlisle but at least things are starting to happen and I might get an update by the weekend.

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering

Yeah the boxer engine and crash bars took the brunt of it, on a normal bike that would have been my leg hitting the car and I might not have kept my right leg attached. I used to ride with a guy who had a similar accident but on his left, we call him 'Peg Leg' and his bikes have an electronic gear s...

Re: What are you doing today ??

I'm off to the hospital to get this lump checked out. Hope it turns out to be nothing. I'm just fault finding on the automated claims forms :D And just had to call the underwriter as they keep sending messages saying I haven't provided all the details, apparently that's incorrect and they have ever...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering

My main concern is weather or not the frame got twisted, if it did, it's done. If not then it will probably get a new engine and some body panels and continue on as my bike until it falls apart, with an insurance marker on it I might find myself in negative equity at the end of the finance (PCP) and...

Re: What ails you today?

The muscles in my lower back are getting less painful and got a lovely yellow and purple shiner on my right shoulder/collarbone from the rim of my helmet, and a less pronounced one across my forehead. Other than that I have taken the dressing off my leg, I can tell which stitch was done by which per...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering

I'm happy to say the Yaris driver was fine, scared half to death but no injuries. I went to the doctors this morning and booked myself in for next Monday to have the stitches out, the nurse advised me to have a week off until then so I've signed off sick for a week. Called the insurance and they are...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering

The ticket is for Careless Driving, 3 points and £100... Could have given me one for Dangerous Driving so it could have been worse.

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering

Well that didn't last long... I had a whoopsie near Moffatt yesterday after visiting St Mary's Loch. I ran wide on a left hander and still have no idea why, probably target fixation on the oncoming car (facepalm) I'm okay, battered and bruised with a nice 4 stitch cut on my right shin. The bike, the...

Re: What are you doing today ??

Working on the Swedish cage, a new belt kit to replace the cam timing belt and both auxiliary belts, strange set-up for those with one taking power from the crank to the A/C compressor, which has a double pulley to then send power to the alternator. So if either belt fails you loose the alternator w...

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??

Today myself and Gaz collected some more bugs on our way up to Whitby for Scampi and Chips with a coffee break at Fimber cafe on the way home 8) About 220 miles added to the tally and a great ride in the summer weather, the sea fret on the coast was quite welcome to cool things down a bit though. It...

Re: What are you doing today ??

Same, after a hectic week last week and a 300 mile day yesterday I have needed a day off, I did manage to order a timing belt kit for the car though.

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering

If you can do a European tour I would recommend it, I loved it! The way we did it was not the cheapest but we would have the first hotel in each direction pre booked, then from there pick a general area for lunch the following day and get on booking.com to pick a hotel for the night over our meal, o...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering

Looks like it was just a poor signal as all was well today, 300 miles up to the lake district and back with the message showing up once at Skipton and then staying off... 1175 miles already.

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering

Well, that didn't take long. Brief ride today and the SOS system has thrown a hissy fit and flagged a malfunction message asking to see a specialist workshop.

Google says that it's most likely that it had a poor signal and will sort itself out. Might give it another go tomorrow.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??

Washed it, fitted the horn and the exhaust, got rained on twice whilst doing that so washed the car too.
