I'll be in the pub. I might give you a second thought, all cold and that.
Or I might order another pint. |

He went the boring CBR600 option If speeding kills, you're looking at a deadman.

Sorry Rick, I didn't finish my IAM assessment until 2pm!
I got.... 5/5 for cornering 4/5 for handling and control 5/5 for attitude to road and road users And 2/5 for appropriate use of speed! |

I am gonna guess the two points where you were doing an appropriate speed were the start and end of the test. If speeding kills, you're looking at a deadman.

Was the 2/5 for 'appropriate use of speed' for going to slow? I've heard the IAM riders don't hang about. |

Too fast, but in fairness to him I knew the roads better than he did. I did stick to the speed limits, just not the national one. In the briefing after he said, had it been a proper observed ride he would of given me about 85 and I only need 90 for a pass. So I'm quite chuffed with that. Fair bit to learn yet so I'll probably get worse before I get better though. |

I found that the the points changed depending on the bias of the observer. Some where more biased on "making progress" than others, you might find that the balance changes with each observed ride. So long as it averages out. Most of the IAM riders I rode with kept within spitting distance of the speed limits but with the advanced skills and smoothness they are able to keep higher average speeds. One guy who use to lead a lot of runs could out ride most sports bikes on a fully loaded pan euro. You never really learn to swear until you learn to drive.
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough - Mario Andretti |

That's pretty much what he said, also as you try adding different things that they teach you forget to do other things until it all starts to gel together.
He did say expect to get worse before you get better |
