Would love to but it needs taking a day off work and the trackbike needs a bit of tlc before it goes on track again.

True - it is a bit of a gamble. However, I want to test the bike out after being repaired following my off at Mallory - before we go to Alcarras on 3 March.

Not usually though i will do a few Saturdays this month cos of tax return deadlines but i would need to take at least half the Friday off to get over to Cadwell.

It's a bit too far to go there, do a trackday and drive back all in the same day.

I've done it from London and back in a day, but I did walk like John Wayne for a week after!

Too early in the year for me though, don't fancy the A1M in vented leathers

Well the day worked out okay and allowed me to do a shakedown of the bike - and my new leathers, helmet, gloves....

During the briefing we watched the track being salted Rolling on the floor laughing and we didn't get out until after 10. There weren't many people there so we were split into 2 rather than 3 groups.

I swapped to put my wets on and found a disc was warped. We swapped the disc and I went down to start the second session. I braked to have my armband checked and ....... didn't stop. We found the other disc was also warped which was pushing the calipers back. We swapped that disc as well and all was well!

Finally I was out in the 3rd session. I was pretty tentative but okay. Then it was lunch.

Out for the first session after lunch. We had to do sighting laps and as Fatbloke (real good racer) said, "those were the fastest sighting laps I can remember!" I was going well and went into Barn quite hot. All of a sudden the rear started sliding and I thought oh no, not again. I relaxed into it and the bike sorted itself out. I did a few more laps and came in a bit early.

It started raining and I decided I'd done enough. My new leathers, gloves and helmet were fine and my bike was all good. So time to pack up and get ready for Alcarras (ordering new brake discs).

Happy days

Alcarras is a much better option than a cold Cadwell.

Good job, this was found before going out on track.
