Well I've just got back but I was in the car

The boys were having a blast in the Sunshine on the hired bikes and when I left them at the start of the 2nd session of the afternoon, all was going well (apart from D6Nutz on bike BBQ)

Seemed well organised and no silly business but Silverstone is a massive wide circuit, disappointingly very flat but impressive

Piccies to follow

They had a laugh and a joke about it and I wasn't there but I think it was after the first session and Nutz came back in the pits in plumes of smoke - I think the rear of the belly pan has come loose and came to rest against the exhaust link pipe

Just got back and what a great day Cool

The weather was 17 degrees and sunny, the R6 hire bikes were stunning (D6nutz had a red hot gixer Blush) the track was amazing and the company was fantastic Yes. The circuit is so big and wide there is plenty of space so you don't get hassled by idiots and you can work on improving your lines and riding technique. There were a few idots in the first session and a couple who should have been in the fast group never mind inters but once we started going out at the front of our group (about 60 riders) we did'nt really have any bother after that and hardly anybody came by Covered Laugh.

I would probably say Silverstone is the best circuit I have ridden it has some genuinely awesome bends, 3 great big straights to give it the berrys down (fook me them R6's are quick for a 600) very grippy tarmac and comes highly recommended, I just wish it was a bit closer to me as I would be doing more if it was.

I m going to get a bath and then chill out with a ice cold magners so will probably give a better debrief tomorrow but I m sure Mick, Frank and John will have plenty to say as everybody had a huge grin on their face all day long and we all came home safe and sound so what a fantastic day out Yes.

Great to see you again Spudda you will have to come on the track with us next time Wink

Really great to see every one again, as has already been said how amazing was the weather Clapping Hands

My poor little gixxer was suffering, I did the three sighting laps and pulled into the pits to see plumes of smoke coming out of the lower part of the engine. It took a couple of sessions to work out that it was the fairing resting against the exhaust Faceplam the guy fixed it over lunch, downside of cheap track plastics I guess.

As for the track sessions, what a blast. Silverstone is so much better for the new stadium complex, there is a lot more to learn but it just works so well. Apart from my last session the top complaint that was heard was about the occasional moment of getting held up, or another rider pulling a slightly dodgy overtake. With some 30 riders on track per session thats not bad going.

The last session was a bit of a mess.. Some twonk decided to try and overtake me on the inside of a fast corner where I was already commited to the corner. Short story is I had to sit the bike up and take to the astro-turf (aka do a duke Wink) Took me best part of a lap to get myself back together and then there was a red flag for a coming together.. Such a shame as the rest of the day had no red flags for inters or novice and only two for the fast group..

I have a few photos and vids but I can't work out how to get them off the phone at the moment and can't be bothered at the moment. Will try and upload them tomorrow, but spudda is the man. (He was worried moonwitch might give him grief if he didn't take enough Covered Laugh)

I believe they are allowed up to 80 riders per group at Silverstone.

Sounds like a great time was had by all.

I can believe it to be honest as I counted at least 60 in our group and then gave up Blush

But in all fairness the place is that big I reckon Outlon Park with 35-40 guys on it is much more congested IMO.

Did'nt hear or see that myself.

There was a polka dot Gixer had a big smash early on in the fast group than just 3 guys on the last lap of the last session in our group Blush I did 'nt see what happen but looking at the 2 bikes down and the huge skid mark I reckon somebody went up the inside, out breaked himself and t-boned and innocent rider Fubar which if its correct is mega bad for the inncocent guy Faceplam

Thanks to all the lads for a great day Yeswhat superb weather i don't think it could have been any better. The R6 was a bit light on the front end for me but got used to it but rather good on the fuel eh John Wink.
There were a few riders who shouldn't have been in the novice group as one lad was almost getting his elbow down as he passed me round the outside of a corner Faceplam and apart from a few of the litre bikes passing you on the straights it was superb. Silverstone is such a long & wide track there is enough room for everyone.
Thankfully for me i had a support on my wrist which held up all day and my shoulder too, im glad the session finished when it did though as the tops of my legs were killing me.
I am definitely going to have to take the RSV4 there as really that was she was built for, i'll be able to stretch her legs properly there.
I got back home about 7.30 had a bath fell asleep watchin telly and woke up at 9.00pm and i was so knackered i went to bed FaceplamFaceplam
I must be getting old !!Covered Laugh

A great day was had by all Yes

Well I think the day has been summed up very well already, a cracking day from start to finish, including my ride home, after giving it the beans all day on track it is very hard to go slow on the way home Covered Laugh
There is something very wrong with the grouping when you get a guy on his knees and elbows around the outside of you on luffield and you think you are a racer in waiting Rolling on the floor laughing
So I am of out of the pits getting settled into the R6, which as a nice piece of kit for the track, one lap done, all warmed up and its time to give it some...Rocknow the fun begins start to roll on the throttle around luffield, not to much just want to get a good pace up for the pits straight, 4th gear and she is screaming down the straight, roll off the throttle and crank it over for woodcote trying to keep to the inside on the red and white (seems to make me feel like I am really cranked over that way Tongue Out up the short straight to copse where I did brake to get the speed down and then gas it full beans into maggots, becketts, which If you get the right line in it is the best fun, get it wrong and you are B-loxed, I know!!Faceplamand then head down and blast down to stowe, nice calm line into vale, a great place for a bottle neck and if you get it wrong, you get it wrong!! then you are into club and onto my nightmare sectionAngry I could not get this right most of the day and that would be Abbey into farm curveFaceplamI kept ending up pushing myself to the outside, i.e. not being able to get the power down coz I ran out of track! Then into the (arena) loop-village-aintree corner section, I loved this bitIn love great fun, a good blast down the wellington straight and hard braking for brooklands get a nice wide line in and then try and try and try to get quicker, without overcooking it around luffield, and then we are back for another lap and another go and getting it rightTMI
I will say again, great company great weather, NOTE TO SELF: Must do again soon.
I must admit I took one picture all day, not like me, too busy racing, well only once did I have that moment in my head when I thought RACE... that was with Steve, we must have overtaken each other about three or four times in a very short period of time, which was making my laugh a mini battle. All Hail

Edit> I forgot to mention after getting home, 1st things first a hot bath, then I banged some food into the oven, and then promptly fell asleep, woken up by smoke alarm and burnt food. Thursday morning and my body is a little stiff to say the least..Speechless

Today is a good day. Smile

Dont forget that in lovely conditions like you had and on a race track (getting the tyres really warm and sticky), most tyres are going to seem far better than when on the road.
